I have 5 of her books on my Kindle and I still haven't read any of her books. Where should I start?

They are definitely stand alone books and it will make sense on its own. But some of the characters are in other the other books so I think you get a richer understanding of the characters.

I would at least read 'The Winter Sea' before 'The Firebird'. It will make a whole lot more sense.
