Buddy Read- On Dublin Street (SP)

So my buddy and I were a bit excited to start and have actually finished On Dublin Street by Samantha Young. It's a pretty quick read and I really enjoyed it. The story was engaging and the characters likeable. It had minutes of 50 Shades moments but overall it was good. It included enough of the steaminess that I'd been craving but without being too over the top. @xdanniellex, your thoughts?

I gave it 4 stars. I liked both Braden and Joss. Braden certainly had some domineering moments, but he also had some really sweet and heartfelt moments as well.

While Joss had her problems and was "broken" as she put it I really liked that she was willing to see a therapist and was consciously working on her issues throughout the book. She didn't just get magically better at the end.

I liked the rest of the supporting characters, especially Ellie and Rhian.

The therapist being included completely made my day! I also like that it took a realistic view of PTSD and grief as well as how an adolescent makes sense of grief and continues to process it over and over through life stages.

Ellie made me smile often, she reminds me of that friend that you search for years to have as your BFF. This is definitely an author I'll read more of.

Either my mind was off wandering or I missed a bunch of stuff, but I just couldn't conjure up an image of Braden in my mind. Do you ever think of an actor/actress as the characters when you read? If so I'd be curious to see who you pictured.

I'm jumping in here. I hope you don't mind. I read it a while ago, but I gave it 3 stars. I definitely agree with the 50 Shades moments. It actually really reminded me of the Bared to You series by Sylvia Day. Braden definitely had some Gideon Cross similarities. I did enjoy Ellie & Rhian!

@saralynn7 I often have an actor/actress/model in mind when I read. I think this guy would be a great Braden:

I don't imagine an actor or anyone in my head when reading. Half the time I get an image and then realize I'm thinking he's got dark hair when the author made him blonde, or something like that. Weird, I know.
