I recommend anything that you can take the cushion covers off and are able to be washed. As far as color, what about something like these? I don't know I haven't found anything kid proof.

I don't have a great color idea, but I'm LOVING microfiber. The boys drew in my ottoman with marker & a wipe took it off.

We have a chocolate brown microfiber and I can't imagine anything would be better. Obviously that's not a super awesome color for your brown carpets, but I bet with some awesome pillows and curtains you could make it work. The microfiber was a must for us when we bought it and I'm very happy with our choice 2 years later.

Shawn is insisting that we need a black leather couch. I said that a lighter color microfiber would be fine. When I'm getting at here is, it's not crazy to get a tan or cream-ish colored couch with kids in the house?

We looked at leather, but now that Lillian likes to open the child-proofed drawer and get her scissors out I'm glad we didn't. Also, pets on leather can scratch or puncture. And if you sit on a pencil or pen that your child left in between the cushions it could be a problem.

Tell that husband of yours if he buys a white leather sofa he can plan on putting it in his bachelor pad! I kid I kid, but seriously, no.

I like the other forks suggestion of microfiber. My sister has some that are a darker tan and they're holding up nicely to the terror of her 2 boys.

We've had some spills on my light tan micro fiber couch... Including red wine, fruit punch, etc ... Came out great!

I can only add that we had a tan microfiber sectional in the house I lived in during my senior year of college. It handled parties, people crashing on it, and take-out dinners like a champ.
