  Do people really think it is that weird we say THE before our fwys? I thought this was a freaking funny SNL skit... Haha

  Yes, using "the" before highways is weird. HTH

  T-TTC since Dec 2008. PCOS/nonexistant cycles(anovulation) and endo. HSG in '10 revealed both tubes blocked. Lap surgery in Dec '10 to correct. Failed Clomid/IUI and injectable(Bravelle)/IUI cycles so far.

  No, but only when referring to CA freeways. I grew up in San Diego and always put THE in front of the 5, the 15, etc., but in Kansas and Ohio, I never refer to freeways that way, ever.

  Maybe it's just a SoCal thing, cuz up here in NorCal I never put "the" in front of the freeway name, I just call it what it is, for example "I-5". Lol

  I can't watch the video in Canada, but here we say "the" before a numbered highway.  And, when we're in the US we say "the I-90", etc.

  Yep, I grew up in NorCal then went to college on the central coast where the student population was about 50/50, and it was a big thing - I took 101 North home, but many of my friends took THE 101 South. We all made fun of each other for doing it wrong.

  I've never heard anyone say that, but could be because I'm on the other side of the metroplex. And Dallas people are just weird. I've heard "the tollway" but never "the Bush". Using it as "the tollway" or "the loop" is acceptable (IMO) because it's not referencing a "proper" noun... like Bush, 35, 820 or whatever. Ha. Now that I think about it... henceforth, I'd like to be referred to as The RAB.

  I never really even thought of it, until I just read a few things, then this skit. Lol My H lived in a few other states and he too said that other parts don't say "the". This skit just made me laugh... I love that blonde comedian Hilarious!
