Help Me Plan

So my cousin is getting married next March and her other bridesmaids and I are throwing her bridal shower in about a year. I am trying to plan stuff in advance because 2 BM's are pregnant currently, 1 is having a baby this March the other in like Aug, 2 of us have babies and well the other I'm not sure. Anyways we are all having a busy year so getting together will be tough.

I'm mostly just doing research and working on a plan right now. So my question is what kind of food do you wish you had at your shower? We want to keep things simple. Also the shower will probably be around 1 o'clock.

Re: Help Me Plan

  • I really liked the food at my shower, we had it at a favorite restaurant of mine.

The last wedding I was in (Sept. last year), there was way too much food at the shower! It was absolutely rediculous the amount of food that we as bridesmaid had to prepare! The best advice I can give is keep it simple!! Everyone wants to over complicate showers but really they should be simple. I like that you are planning now and things can be adjusted as you go which is nice instead of rushing around the week before the shower. Why not ask the bride what some of her favorite foods are or what she wants to eat at the shower? This way you know that the bride will at least be happy with the food :) I think doing appetizers is easy enough for a shower unless you want a formal meal. Dips, salads, veggie tray, sandwiches, and a good dessert are all you really need, in my opinion

  • i wish we had more finger foods at mine. and i wish it hadnt been at a restaurant. people kept coming in the room and watching us.
  • My shower was a brunch at a restaurant so we had all brunch-type foods. The one I helped plan for my sister-in-law was Mexican themed so we did a taco bar. It was really easy. Some salsa, some guac, and tacos.

  • We had finger sandwiches,  veggies, hummus and mini pastry trays for my shower and it was fine. Keep it simple.

  • I think that sandwiches, sides and a cake are the easiest way to go. Although if the bride's into it, I LOVE the idea of a taco bar! I agree that you should ask her what she would want. I loved that mine was more of a breakfast food shower than lunch. Although my Mom, MIL & BMs definitely went overboard!
