Need your help, please! volunteering in Jake's class this Friday...
I volunteered to take part in Fantastic Fridays at Jake's school this week....guess who forgot until this week?
there aren't many guidelines...it is basically a time where parents can come in and show off a talent (I don't think these kids want to analyze celebrity gossip or reality TV shows, so I should steer clear of that talent of mine) or can just be something fun to show them or do with them. I volunteered for the hoiday party last month and we did a little game/craft/snack that was snowman themed, so I don't want to do something similar. HELP! any ideas? I remember someone posting a site before that lists books then ideas for crafts or games to fit the book, but I can't find it now.
Here I come, pinterest....

How much time do you have to do said talent?
Last month's family project for Cori's class was to draw a picture into a snow globe (that was cut out of construction paper). They were to draw their favorite thing to do in winter - sledding, make snow angels, ice skating, etc - and then were told to smear some clear glue over it all and sprinkle glitter over it so it looked like a snow globe. It took about 15 mins and the kids enjoyed the craft. You should be able to cut out a circle shape over a rectangle to make the "snow globe" in constrcution paper fairly easily this week.
I don't do pinintrest so I don't have any "wow" ideas. Sorry! Good luck - I'm sure they will have fun just having you there!
What about doing some type of science experiment or magic trick and incorporating a school lesson into it? (My friend is doing some sort of science fair with her kids and has been pinning a ton of stuff on Pinterest and Mason got a magic trick set for Xmas, so we are doing magic tricks on a daily basis, if you need any ideas!)
Also, not sure how messy this would be with a class full of students, but my MIL just made snow globes with the boys. They had a little plastic jar, put water and glitter in the jar, glued mini plastic snowmen/winter figures to the underside of the lid so that when the put the lid on, it was a snow globe. It was pretty cute!

He has this magic set, which you are more than welcome to borrow.

They are very basic tricks, so I don't know how they would go over with the kindergarten crowd. But there is a box of disappearing crayons, a picture that colors itself, some optical illusion stuff, etc.
We also have a magician's hat and bunny...the hat has a secret pocket in it to hide the bunny (or anything else really).
