Can you forgive me for a symptom question post?

I know that every pregnancy is different, and symptoms can be all over the board... but I just can't help but wonder sometimes if anyone is going/went through the same thing as me, and if anyone found relief!

So, here I go...

First: I get SO full after I eat. I feel like I'm bursting after I eat a salad. Is this something that will last until the end, or is it because of the 1st tri bloat shoving all my guts together and slowing digestion? I'm drinking plenty of water and eating small meals... but it's not something I expected so early!

Next: Carpel tunnel. Yep, my hands are going numb already. I have had CTS in my right wrist, but not the left. They're both acting up now. I thought this also waited until 3rd tri with swelling and such. It's worse in the morning though, so I'm thinking of breaking out the ol' brace again (sexy bedtime attire...). Anyone else have this joy so early?

Lastly: Back pain. My lower back is so tight! Does anyone have any PG posture tips I need to obey to keep my back in check? I know I sit like a caveman at work, which doesn't help anything.

Anyone's $0.02 would be super awesome. And maybe this can just be a free for all "ask anything" thread now, so it doesn't have to be all about me :P (Also, I'm bored at work - can you tell??)

  • Getting so full after eating a few bites was totally me in first tri. I can eat a little more now, but nowhere near the portion size I could eat before getting pg. no help on the carpal tunnel but I'm sure the other girls will. As for back pain warm baths helped and it went away pretty quickly for me. Yoga helps too.

  • I had both the feeling full and the back pain. Most of it went away in second tri and came back in third.

I know many women love being pg. for me it was not physically pleasant, I enjoyed the kicks but that's it.

Super honest - it was tough. I was uncomfortable 80% of the time.

The good news is that it doesn't last forever!!!

If we decide to try for #2 and we get pg, I will honestly just look at pg as "survival". Take each week at a time an get through it.

I know some women have a wonderful experience and it is a bummer that mine wasn't, but just sharing the tough/uncomfortable POV.

  • Ditto what DM said about feeling full. I have found it has let up in second tri and that I can eat more now. I have no advice about the other symptoms. My back pain hasn't been too bad yet.

  • @cinderin - I really do appreciate the different POV! I looked forward to being pregnant for so many years, and now that I am, it's not quite as magical as I hoped, haha :) I'm not miserable, but I totally feel like my body has been hijacked and I'm looking forward to having the baby much more than I thought I would this early. It's all worth it though, I am really trying to focus more on the positives and the temporary nature of pregnancy, and I honestly only complain on here.. sorry girls ;)

@Uptowngirl2009 - I'm glad the full feeling let up in 2nd tri for you! That does give me hope. It's so hard to eat when I get so full, I feel like it's not possible to eat what my body needs right now.

  • Yoga helped my lower back sooo much. Like I was in so much pain and I felt best after a workout or a hot shower.

As for feeling full that happened early on for me and it's only getting worse. Small snacks are the way to go

I swear, I thought it was just me that feels like this, but I get the same feeling when I eat. And I don't get cravings, per say, just want to eat stuff that isn't going to make me feel like I'm going to barf - and the foods I want changes every day. Then I also feel nausea off and on all day long. Seemed to be worse in the night in the beginning, but now it's all day.

No back aches, but my boobs hurt like a mo'fo....
  • I didn't have carpel tunnel but I did develop a Ganglion cyst in my left wrist in about 2nd tri with my first pregnancy. I wore a brace pretty much all day, every day and it went away a little after birth.

  • I only had carpal tunnel in the last few weeks, I would've gone completely nuts if I had gotten it any sooner. I hope its not a constant thing for you!

  • I had carpal tunnel but not as early as you. Wearing braces at night did help. And I hate to be Debbie Downer, but it didn't go away right after delivery like I expected it to. It took almost six weeks to completely disappear. :( hopefully it will subside sooner than that for you.

  • ^Same with me, the carpal tunnel was still there a few weeks pp, same with the swelling.

  • I definitely felt full quickly during 1st tri.  Then again, I wasn't eating a lot to begin with because I felt like such crap.  The bloat was insane, though.

As for the back pain.  I didn't have that consistently, but when I did have it, stretching/yoga worked wonders.  Also having my shower beat on my back felt great, too.

Words of wisdom from my sister: "Welcome to pregnancy; where your body is no longer your own!"

I got full pretty easily in my first tri. Now that I'm in my second, I'm a bottomless pit.  Seriously, I'll have seconds of some meals and still don't feel full. At all.

  • @amccul20 - I really would love to get into yoga, it's just so expensive around here! I might try to get a prenatal yoga DVD... but I've never been consistent with at home workouts, so we'll see ;)

@vitan - Yikes! Ganglion cysts are a pain. I have a cyst in my wrist, but I'm not sure if it's Ganglion or not. I've had it for years and it only bothers me once in a while, but when it does it's pretty annoying. I'm glad yours went away on its own!

@sgautschi - yeah, thankfully the CTS isn't consistent, mainly mornings/evenings, and it's just tingling and numb, not painful yet!

@JennaHack - I definitely need to do more stretching, even if it isn't yoga... and the hot shower is so glorious on my back! I've wasted more water than I care to admit doing that :P

    @PandPMeant2B - Your sister is wise! ;)
