WIJFR: The Cuckoo's Calling (NS)
I didn't love this as much as
@jackiback but I did give it 4 stars. The first half was S-L-O-W, but everything picked up with about 200 pages left. I read that last chunk in one sitting, I had to know how it all ended up.
The characters were great, and the whole investigation was fun and everything about detective stories I love.
I'm really looking forward to the next one...I hope she's still writing it since her name was released.

Re: WIJFR: The Cuckoo's Calling (NS)
my read shelf:
I gave this one star. There was nothing entertaining about it. The characters were boring. I knew more from reading the Goodreads summary than I did from reading the first 25% of the book.
It was SO wordy and descriptive and well, boring. Where was the excitement? The suspense? It just plodded along...slowly...painfully... Nothing HAPPENED! A thriller should keep you guessing, on the edge of your seat. The only reason I was on the edge of my seat was because I was about to fall asleep from boredom.
I wish I didn't know who the real author was. By knowing, it appeared to me that she was trying too hard to be a male author. Forgive the stereotype but there was a lot of words/descriptions used that are not typically used by females. It seemed like "Oh, if I throw the f-word in their a few dozen times, then for sure it will seem like a man." There were other words too but I prefer not to repeat them.
I struggled like crazy to get through it.
