Do Americans actually.... Questions from Canada

I asked this question to DH the other night and neither of us knew for sure, so I thought I'd post it here... do people in the U.S. actually wear shoes around the house all the time, or is this just a Hollywood thing (i.e. only in movies/tv shows)?

Re: Do Americans actually.... Questions from Canada

  • Haha, I don't! I thought about that watching a show the other night.. A little house wife cooking dinner in high heals! Yeah right! Sometimes we wouldn't take them off right when we got home, but ever since we got new carpet we take them off as soon as we are inside.

  • I hardly ever wear shoes around the house.  If I do, it's usually just slip on shoes.  I can't stand wearing shoes for a extended period of time!

  • I only wear my shoes in the house if I'm walking right back out. Otherwise nope.
  • I hate wearing shoes, and only have them on when needed. I've never thought about how TV characters wear them around the house before, but now I'm going to notice it a ton.

  • I don't wear shoes in my own house, but I don't like taking my shoes off in other people's houses.
  • Growing up everyone wore shoes around the house. We were the odd family that had everyone take their shoes off at the door. My parents picked up the shoes off habit in Japan. Now it seems more and more people take their shoes off. Like no one going to university would take their shoes off and now they do no matter what.
