I got this book through the Amazon Firsts program - one free soon to be released book that has to be redeemed by the end of January. If you like paranormal-witch-style books at all, you NEED to read this book. I absolutely adore it. In fact, the only problem with it is that it's part of a trilogy, and because I read it before it was released, I have to wait longer to find out what happens next and I want to know all of the things NOW.
I thought I knew what the plot twist was going to be about halfway through, and I was wrong. Well, partially wrong. So it's not as predictable as it seems at first. I drew some parallels with A Discovery of Witches, but this one is not an epic saga, and is more light-hearted.

All of the plot twists annoyed me, and at the end of the book I still felt like I didn't really know the main character.
Also, I don't want to post any spoilers, but the "situation" with her boyfriend to me is unforgivable. I hate when a series takes this turn, and I'm disappointed that it happened in book one.
