Pediatrician recs

Hello Ladies! I am popping over from the bump and I am looking to see if anyone has any experience with CHOP/Primary Care Springfield or Haverford? I am expecting my first child in April and I am planning on doing "meet and greet" at both places if they accommodate, but I thought I would ask for any real life experiences on here. Thanks!!

Hi. Congrats on your baby. I go CHOP Flourtown, so while I can't speak for Springfield or Haverford, I can say that we have great experience with CHOPF. I have a girl crush on our pedi. I have to imagine that the other branches run in a similar fashion with just as high quality doctors as Flourtown (and main campus).

I will say this though, there are 5 doctors at Flourtown. The very first time we went we weren't in love with the dr. She was nice and she was competent but we weren't like "Shes awesome" so the next time me met with another one and we were super happy with him. Thought he was fantastic. The third time we met OUR dr. Again, in love with her! Hopefully they let you meet everyone because you are bound to favor one or two over the others.

Thanks for the reply! Did you do a meet and greet with the practice before you chose them? Now that you have found a Dr. you love, can you request to see that doctor only? Both Springfield and Haverford have 5 or 6 Dr. as well so I figure it will proably be run the same way.

So, we didn't do a meet and greet. My boys were born at CHOP because they have heart issues. Since our cardiologist is at CHOP, we knew we were just going to go to whatever CHOP office was closest to our house so that the cardiologist and the pedi could have access to each others notes via their system and we wouldn't have to keep faxing notes back and forth, etc. It just so happens we hit the jackpot with our pediatrician.

To answer your questeion, yes, you can request to have your appts with one doctor. They actually asked us to pick one as our primary and pick another as our back up. Due to our situation, I make sure to have all well visit appts with our primary no matter how long I have to wait because she knows us and I don't have to bring her up to speed on the latest with them because she reads the notes before our appt knowing that it's involved.

I take my kids to CHOP Haverford and we love it. We see Dr. Gwiescz (pronounced ga-veesh) and are really happy with him. When I was in the hospital with #3, Dr. Giombetti was the attending pedi and I really liked him as well

Thanks so much ladies! I just scheduled a pre-natal visit at CHOP Haverford... Springfield doesn't have those kinds of appointments so hopefully all goes well at Haverford!

I've known Dr Gwiszcz for a very long time! If it was a little closer to me, I would use him in a heartbeat! I actually call him before my pediatrician to see what he thinks I should do! LOL!

We love CHOP at Haverford! Our main dr is Giombetti but everyone I've seen there (for sick visits) is good.
