GTKY: Extracurriculars

In school did you participate in anything? What did you do and have long did you do it?

Re: GTKY: Extracurriculars

  • I went to two different high schools. One was a Catholic school that had EVERYTHING! I was in different choirs and a musical. I worked in student counsel. For a season, I worked as a student help for the girls JV softball team.

At my other school, a charter school that had only been opened a few years, they didn't have too much in the way of extras. I was on prom committee the two years I was there and I worked as a teachers aid one year.

  • I was a total drama/dance geek. The drama dorks at my high school were actually kinda jerks so I did community theater. I stuck with it through college and miss it so much. In college besides a few plays, I was a tour guide and was part of the Communications Career Club.

  • If I did something, it consumed my life. From 3-6 grades I was on a competitive jump rope team and went to the junior Olympics in 1998. Meanwhile, from ages 7-15 I did competitive gymnastics and quit after level 8 (there are 10 levels then Elite which is Olympics). After that, I did competitive cheerleading because it was an easy Segway from gymnastics. I did all star cheerleading, high school cheerleading, and eventually college just for my freshman year. That year of college cheer was the darkest year of my life and I quit everything, gained about 40 lbs and here I am. No wonder I have arthritis at the age of 25.

  • In high school I was in French club (aka watching French movies and eating French food), and drama at a local all boys school. I'm sure there were other things but I can't remember.

In college I did Alternative Spring Break (where we traveled doing service projects during spring break), work at the info desk and was an admission tour guide.

  • In middle school I did choir and dance and pep squad. In high school I did Yearbook, several clubs, football ads, and dance. College I was in a sorority and a few clubs.
  • I was a huge dance nerd. I was on a competitive all star dance team as well as my high school team. I was in BlueGold for a while and SADD/YELL. My school had activities period every other Friday so everyone HAD to be involved in some sort of club - hence the BlueGold and SADD/YELL.

I was in community musicals for years, and then worked backstage in HS.
I played soccer up until HS, when I switched to Track & Field.  I started ice skating lessons in middle school, and then joined a competitive team (precision).  This led to my HS job at the ice rink, which led to my driving of a zamboni many years later.

I also participated in Service Club, and a number of other clubs.

But what I really wanted was to start my own Babysitters Club.
