WTF Wednesday

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • http://www.bustle.com/#/articles/12208-these-20-us-cities-are-allowed-to-complain-about-the-cold  WTF- I need a vacation badly.

Also, today is a day I'm tempted to walk out on my job.

  • WTF H - just please... shovel the driveway. You are 2 snows behind and I fell this morning walking the dog. Also, if you touch my boobs one more time I will stab you in the nuts.

    --------------

WTF work - FIX THE HEATER. It's 85 degrees in my cube... Work request went out Monday! Why can't their be a happy medium in this damn building?!  It's 10 degrees out and I'm in a tank top at my desk.

    --------------

WTF biomom - CS is required on the 1st. Yes, I have it set up that you usually get it around the 28th the month before. Really, I have it set up to come out of our account the 25th and it takes 3 days to process. When the 25th is on a Saturday... it may take a few more days - that's why I have it set up for the 25th, to account for weekends, and holidays. You will still get it before the 1st - I promise. We have NEVER not paid you, I don't know why you think this month is different.

  • That article is great! I'm not in one of those cities, but it is still pretty cold here, and I'm totally over this winter. It gets a big WTF from me. Especially because a lot of old friends who I keep in touch with through Facebook are still down in the south and are on day two (TWO!) of snow days.

  • WTF brain - you spent three hours working on the same project this morning trying to figure out how to fix something that wasn't broken in the first place. You just did it wrong the first time.  Ugh, I swear I could kick myself for being so scatterbrained today.

WTF coworker - I have fixed your "edit" on the same document four times because I had it correct and you kept insisting it was wrong. I finally had to call you out today in front of the whole staff. Was that fun for you? I don't like being the bad guy...

  • WTF insurance agent. I've been trying to get everything switched over on my account for almost a year now. Why the need to play phone tag?!

On a side note, I read the cold cities article posted earlier. Conveniently located about an hour outside of one of those cities. :-(

  • Just adding the obligatory WTF WEATHER!????!?!?!?!??!   ~X(
    image
  • I guess I could stay with the weather theme, though I may not make friends! ;). Wtf weather, we desperately need rain. We are officially in a drought already this year and have had fires in January!! It would be nice to have some snow in the mountains. Water reserve levels are dangerously low.
It may seem counterintuitive since the rest of the country wants less weather, but we need some badly.

  • I'm on the wtf weather bandwagon...

  • First, WTF weather?!?!?! We moved from upstate NY to get away from all of this...today it's a balmy 16 degrees in Maryland. I didn't sign up for this!

Second, dear thesis defense committee: please respond to my emails so that I can set a defense date!

Third, Jan 31 is my last stipend paycheck. My boss cut me off because he doesn't have any more grant money and something about grad students not being guaranteed stipend support after 7 years. Well, I haven't been there a full 7 years yet (and i won't be if I defend in April), so I went to the Dean's office to request to be funded off the Dean's discretionary account. I haven't heard anything on that either : (

  • @lehc723 I'm one of those on snow day #2!! Which also leads to my WTF...

WTF Dept. of Transportation and local school systems!!! H works for the DOT, but luckily not the dept that is responsible for salting the roads. They didn't know this weather system was coming, so they didn't treat any roads. AT ALL. Once the weather system popped up, they didn't do anything and the county didn't call off schools. I don't blame them 100% because it rarely does anything, even when it IS called for. I'm a teacher.
It started snowing an hour after we got to school, started sticking immediately. Since there was no treatment on the roads, the snow stuck EVERYWHERE. They didn't call school until 1.5 hours after it started snowing, with dismissal starting a half hour after that. The high schools and middle schools have to use the buses first, so that meant more waiting for elementary. We had 3 buses cancel their routes to us because the roads were too bad, another who only picked up half the kids because the other half lived in a neighborhood up a hill I couldn't get to.
H got sent home early, he couldn't get up a hill to our neighborhood and he had to walk and park. I finally left school 3 hours after dismissal, about 30 students were still left, and I couldn't drive my car. A co-workers husband had a 4wd truck and they live close by, so they brought me home. Most people I know, it took 3 to 4 hours at least to get home. I'm pretty sure the news said there were 7 school buses in accidents and 125 crashes at least around the county. We didn't even have it the worst!! Atlanta was worse than us!!
Once I was home safe, I was thrilled to get to go out and enjoy the snow!!! My WTF isn't for the snow, but for the way TDOT and the schools handled it. They already called us off for tomorrow as well!

Thanks! I'm just trying to write this thesis as quickly as I possibly can. In the meantime, I'm looking for jobs (although working full time will slow down thesis writing, but I need the paycheck!), but even though I'm an almost Ph.D., but 2 places have already told me that I don't have enough experience.

When my advisor saw my shocked face that I'd be losing my stipend his response was, "what, your husband doesn't make enough money?". I seriously wanted to throw something at him! He is completely out of touch with the reality of student loan payments and the lives of today's young professionals.

  • I feel like I'm in a warm state today, it's 20 degrees today!!  It was -15 with a -45 windchill yesterday though.  The below zero stuff is coming back tomorrow, bleh!  Today is just a tease.
@mana8503 I might take you up on that offer if this below zero crap doesn't knock it off soon!

  • I feel so bad for all of you that are experiencing bad weather.  It hasn't been too bad down here, but yesterday and one day last week, we had some ice storms and the roads were so bad they had the be closed down.  I think we've had two snow days for school.  It's getting warmer throughout the rest of the week, with a high in the low 70's this weekend.  It was like that last week too; cold all week then nice weather on the weekend.
