Hello, my name is Jillian and I have a serious serious nail polish problem. I just got confirmation email regarding my monthly Julep box as well as a "nail polish on us" email. I ordered 3 more polishes on top of the three I am expecting from my normal monthly box. I have a problem.

    Ok, so excuse the naivete, but what is this Maven thing everyone is posting about?  

    (I'm pretty clueless when it comes to beauty stuff.)

    Its a nail polish of the month club. You answer a bunch of style type questions and put you into a collection category, when you set up your account. Each month they send you 2-3 nail polishes from the style collection that best suits your "Maven Style". Its $20 a month and you have the option to opt out months you either dont like the colors availble or if you just dont want them that month. You also have the option to look at the other Style collections and switch boxes. They have new beauty products each month as well instead of the 3rd polish.

    I'd be right there with you if I wasn't trying to reign in superficial spending! I indulged right after Christmas, but I'm cutting myself off for now.

    @lfk2013 - Julep Maven is a membership program Julep does. You get significant discounts as a Maven (all you need to do is sign up; no fee!), and you're automatically enrolled in their Monthly Maven box. You can choose to skip the month when they email to let you know the new boxes are ready, or you can try a box from a different beauty "profile" than the one you're "assigned" when you set up your profile.

    I have the same problem.... Oh well! It's fun and it's a definite monthly splurge for me, but I do all my own manis and pedis. I rarely get my hair done or anything, so I choose this instead.

    @seahorse01 Good luck.  I left 3 messages on the machine for the cancellation department. It says someone will get back to you.  Yeah, about that.  I had better luck asking to speak with billing.  There you get a live person.

    Just a PSA- new subscribers do NOT get the option to skip each month. They changed their terms on December 18, but if you signed up before then, you're "grandmothered" in and can still skip. New subscribers "earn" a skip every 6 months, and can only use 2 a year.

    I'm a little annoyed by this, and I'm not sure I'm going to keep pointing friends in the Maven direction. I wish they would have made this change more public, it feels very sneaky.

    That sucks, @BeeLu!

    I'm thinking of canceling.  I joined a few months ago and honestly, I don't like their polish.  I love the colors but the quality is terrible.  It chips within a day or two.  It's really just not worth the money to me.

    ETA:  And I am by no means a nail polish snob.  Most of what I own came from Avon. 





    dx:  Unexplained IF (mild MFI)

     TTC since May 2011, 1 year trying, and then 3 TI, 2 IUI = BFN

    IVF #1 (May 2013):  Antagonist Protocol: 
    24R, 18M, 15F w/ICSI; 5dt of 2 early blasts, no frosties = BFN
    IVF #2 (August 2013):  Lupron Stop Protocol: 
    28R, 23M, 15F w/ICSI; 5dt of 1 partially hatched blast, 7 frosties = BFP
    EDD 5/23/14, blighted ovum (6w6d), D&C (8w6d)
    FET #1 (April 2014):  transferred 2 5d blasts = BFP

    That is super sneaky! I had no idea they'd done that! Very not cool.

    @looneylife - we are opposites. This is the only polish that doesn't chip off of my nails in 24 hours.
