FFQs: movement

I have some questions about feeling baby move. I'm 19 weeks and I'm still not sure I have even felt flutters yet. I know that I am plus size and even then some women don't feel it until closer to 20-22 weeks or later.

1) When you first started feeling baby move, how often did you feel it? I thought I felt two "taps" last night pretty close to one another in time but then I didn't feel anything else the rest of the night.
2) Was there a certain time of day you felt the movements more?
3) Was there anything you did that seemed to make baby move more? I have heard things like drinking cold water, juice, or eating something sweet.

Thanks!

    1) When you first started feeling baby move, how often did you feel it? I thought I felt two "taps" last night pretty close to one another in time but then I didn't feel anything else the rest of the night.  I felt LO for the first time at 19w.  The first I felt him was a kick.  Looking back, I realize I felt some flutters a few weeks earlier, but didn't think anything of them at the time.  LO kicked so hard that first night that DH felt him.

    2) Was there a certain time of day you felt the movements more?  I always feel him a ton when I lay down to go to bed.  Even when I first started feeling him, it was always at night when I first laid down.  The further along I got, the more I noticed that he seemed to move a lot about an hour or so after I ate.

    3) Was there anything you did that seemed to make baby move more? I have heard things like drinking cold water, juice, or eating something sweet.   Cold water has always done it for me.  Juice or something sweet never has any effect....even though my co-irkers don't believe me.  They're constantly telling me, "Oh baby's going to be going crazy because you're eating that donut/ice cream/cake/etc."  No really...he doesn't react to things like that.

  • I don't know how far along I was when I first felt movement. For a long time I definitely felt things but I was never quite sure if it was the baby or not. I remember getting my anatomy scan at 20 weeks and being very surprised at how much he was moving since i felt none of it. Movement was always most significant when I went to bed at night.

I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.
  • I felt him for the first time when I was exactly 18 weeks and it just felt like some light taps.  I have felt him pretty much every day since then, but some days more frequently than others.  I used to feel him more in the mornings and in the evenings, but now he seems to have shifted patterns.  Also, if I have some orange juice or sugar (or even just after eating a meal) he seems to be more active.

  • I felt a couple distinct taps around 15/16 weeks then nothing again until closer to 20.  Movements were few and far between up until 24ish weeks when they became more regular.  He was never really more active at a particular time, and nothing I did ever seemed to make him move more.

  • When I first started feeling movement it felt like bubbles popping and I would only feel it occasionally when I was laying in bed at night. It got to be a more regular kicking feeling about a month later.

  • I believe I was close to 14 weeks along when I first felt the taps. It was only one and I could feel it on the left side of my belly. I would feel a little bit every day until it eventually became harder and harder. I think DH was able to feel her around 18 weeks. If I drank anything cold, she would move - especially orange juice.

  • I felt taps at 17 weeks but full blown movement at 22 weeks. I had an anterior placenta. I felt her move mostly at night. remember, when you're moving around you're basically rocking them to sleep, so they sleep all day and party at night. Cold fluids seemed to do it for me.

I felt a buzzing around 17/18 weeks, but not consistent movement or kicks until 21 or 22 weeks.  My original movement felt like there was a cell phone vibrating inside of me.

    2) Was there a certain time of day you felt the movements more?

When I wasn't teaching or moving around.

    3) Was there anything you did that seemed to make baby move more? I have heard things like drinking cold water, juice, or eating something sweet.

My baby doesn't respond to sugar.  Carbs are a different story, and cheez-its will create a dance party.

  • I felt "tickles" around 14 weeks. First really kicks started around 17 weeks and were unmistakeable by 19 weeks. I get movement throughout the day, but mostly when I relax on the couch or am laying in bed at night. Usually, cold water, OJ etc get him to move. At my NST they gave me ice chips and cold water to get him to cooperate. I still have slow movement moments. A funny example is Saturday. He was so quiet all morning.mi had cold OJ while I curled my hair and did makeup for my shower. All the sudden he woke up and kicked me hard, with a curling iron in hand. I startled me and I now have a burn on my ear.

  • I first felt movement around 15 weeks and it was just flutters or tapping.  I have an anterior placenta and the doctor said feeling the baby that early wasn't normal at all.

At 22 weeks I could see kicks at night when I laid down to go to bed and thats been true every night since, its sooo cool.

DH still hasn't felt it yet, once he said he did and then pointed to where he felt movement and I was like um no the baby kicked on the other side of my belly! haha.  if he would be more patient he could feel/see the kicks i'm sure.

  • I didn't really feel him move until around 22 weeks and it was just a few light jabs. I felt him move maybe once a day or once every other day for a couple of weeks then his movement increased or he just moved into a position. That was much more noticeable. After awhile I could feel him move a lot after meals and when I was sitting or lying down.
