@briget0117 (BC related)

You have nexplanon right? Do you like it? Does it cause you to have mood swings? I am considering this and my 6wk pp appointment is next week. I am EBF so I need something that I can use while bfing. I am terrible at taking a pill every day. DH and I had almost decided on no BC but changed our minds because we want for me to be able to be a SAHM when DH graduates and we cant afford another baby for a couple years and save up for that. Regular hormonal bcp make me super moody and lethargic. Pros/cons?

Re: @briget0117 (BC related)

  • I sure do.

    I like it when I'm not on my period. Lol.

    I had the implanon before getting pregnant and I had the same problems with it.

    I like it because unlike the IUD I don't have to be reaching in my vjay to check the strings. (I really don't like feeling my vjay, lol). And like you, I would forget to take the pill every day. I thought about the depo shot but my doctor said the depo shot would have the same affect on me as the nexplanon.

    I hate it because my period lasts for 2 weeks :( and it kills my sex drive. I haven't noticed any mood swings. I do feel like I've gained some weight and it makes it harder to lose them.

    I can't think of what else to tell you but if you have questions just ask. I'm not shy about anything :)
  • Is your period heavy or just really long?

  • I had the implanon implant and really liked it. It did take several months for me to even out, but once I did it was super and lasted for three years :-)

  • It's long and light.

    What @dangermuffin23 Is true and that does happen but unfortunately not with me. :( My doctor always said wait a few months it'll eventually stop. 3 years later and it never did.

    But hopefully if you get it, the same thing will happen with you as it did with @dangermuffin23.
