Calling all Canadians

H and I have been obsessed with this show called Food Factory. Simple premise: take a tour of food factories, learn how stuff gets made. Well, lots of the foods are Canadian products and H and I are seriously considering a trip to Canada to get some of these snacks. That's right, driving 4+ hours for junk food. (Don't judge me.)

Anywho, our holy grail was Maple Creams. We were soooo excited to get these freakin' cookies. Well, we found them today at our local Giant Eagle! They're "Dare" brand so I hope they're legit. I'm so insanely excited!

What other treats should I look for?

Re: Calling all Canadians

  • Are you stopping to get me? Otherwise, this plan sucks.
  • Sure, you're kind of on the (long) way.
    imageimageimageAnniversary
  • You really thing Canadia land would be fun with out me? I can take you to a sex shop where you can get a darth vador Vibrator. Fact.
  • Dare is an American company, but similar to what we get here. We have two uniquely Canadian ones: Mr. Maple Cookies and Maple Leaf Cookies. Mmm! My DH makes an insane amount of money in eBay selling Canadian snack foods into the USA. It's a real thing, apparently, to want the stuff made here that you can't get there. Which others have you seen on Food Factory?
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

  • But I'd rather visit and sing "O Canada" all the way and make N consider divorcing me!

LB, I think I want some Lays "All Dressed", some caramels with sea salt, and some of these Naan-type pastries with filling.

What are these Cheezies? Cheetos? If so, for the love of God, BEB, frozen?! I don't know if I can abide that.
    imageimageimageAnniversary
  • Not Cheetos. Hawkins Cheezies.  I sent some to BEB when I was her NSA and instructed her to cool them in the freezer for a bit first. it makes the flavour "pop".

Where in Canada is closest to you? Perhaps we can tell you some local delights.

  • They are similar to our Cheetos, except crunchier and cheesier!
NFP sent them to me as part of her NSA reveal last year and suggested for them to be frozen. They were AMAZING!!
  • Also ketchup and dill pickle flavoured chips.
    Aero chocolate bars.
    Maple syrup
    Shreddies cereal
    Dad's chocolate chip cookies

I'm usually crossing the border for things I can't get here but these are some of the things my relatives in the states want from us.

  • Our closest "port of entry" is via Buffalo, NY.
    imageimageimageAnniversary
  • Ketchup chips & smarties are all I can think of.

And while you're here, get a poutine and a beavertail with a Pepsi.  You'll practically be Canadian at that point, they hand out passports with that order.

@lb1117 I feel inspired to enter the world of snack food exportation all of a sudden!  I totally didn't know that was a thing.

Since you'll be in the Niagara area, you'll need to stay overnight so you can consume large amounts of wine.
