Can someone help me once and for all on this curtain rod dilemma?

Ever see curtains displayed on clips but just on the very outside corners of the window. it is only for decoration and not to close so the rods are very short and thick? I cannot seem to find a short rod to do this. What store has this? can someone paste a link????

  • If this is what you mean, this blogger said she couldn't find them in stores so she DIY'ed it, and has the instructions on her blog: http://goodideasandtips.com/2011/01/short-curtain-rods/

  • I have these in my home and people often ask about them all the time.  They are great because if I want to extend it I can.  Otherwise it just looks like it is for decor and not function.

  • I have never seen these before. Generally, when you have a large span of windows on a wall like this photo, and there are short walls (1 to 2 feet in width) in between the windows, you still hang a long drapery rod at that height and then just hang the drapery panels (for décor use only) on those narrow wall segments and flanking the windows.

You can still use a long drapery rod even if you are not going to use the drapery panels to shut out light or for privacy.

This "look" in this photo is visually very broken up. To unify a wall and window bank like this, you use a consistent line of a drapery rod across the top...it draws the eye...then you hang your fabric to soften the window area.

As pictured, this look is very choppy. The only way I would conceivably ever do this with short rods, is if the rods were smack against the ceiling and the fabric of the drapery panels hung all the way to the floor.

I would go to some design website and view window treatments on these sorts of windows.
