Who is snowed in today?

Around 6 a.m. we were told we are having a delayed opening, at 10 a.m. My boss told me to stay home:).

I will be drinking lots of coffee and watching some day time TV. Maybe I'll clean up a bit around the house, but that's a big maybe.

Re: Who is snowed in today?

  • I am! I have a few hours of work to get done at home, but otherwise the same plan as you. I have a new fresh pasta maker attachment I haven't tried yet, so today could be the perfect day to get cooking :)
  • We aren't snowed in exactly. Day students were asked to not come into school today but boarding students will still have classes. Since we live on campus we still have to go into work. I am happy we walk to work!

  • We were suppose to get 4-6 inches overnight, turned out to be more like 3-4 but it's snowing pretty heavily now, watch, I'll get stuck here at work.

Yes, the timing of this storm is odd-I'm glad so many jobs called off "nonessential" employees so that hopefully people who did have to go in can get home safe! I do feel for anyone losing out on pay though.

I am! My work opens at noon today but I'm not going in even though I have a 10 minute commute. The roads are horrible and my tires suck in the snow. We got about 8 inches and now it's sleeting. I don't have a work laptop so I will be enjoying my day off
  • I'm at work. :-(  They called for 4-6 inches, and we've gotten around 8-9 so far.  It's still snowing, and isn't supposed to stop until late this afternoon.  Now they're saying we should have 12 by the end of the day.

That's the negative to living in rural midwest where they're used to getting weather like this.  We'll get sent home early if it starts to blow, because the rural roads drift shut quickly and all of us live in different towns than the office.

  • we are!  Have been since yesterday and will be until our street gets plowed.  Yesterday I got some business stuff done and cleaned DD's room.  I plan on cleaning 2 rooms today and calling our insurance agent to see if we can get a better health insurance plan for less money.

  • We are not snowed in, but we do have a "Run Water" order from the city water dept..  The frost is now 7.5-8 feet deep and there are so many with frozen pipes it will take 2 weeks to get to new calls.  So - needless to say I am running my water .
I was told to run the water until AT LEAST the end of APRIL or until personally contacted by someone from the water department to stop.  Guess it will be a late spring for us.

Snowbanks are more than 6 feet at the end of my driveway and we typically have more snow until late March or early April.
  • We are expecting another snow storm this weekend also, possibly up to two feet. I am ready for spring!
  • 2 feet!?!  that's just nuts!  We got 10 inches yesterday.  We have another possibility of snow on saturday and monday.  schools are closed tomorrow for the arctic air, so I may or may not be teaching depending who all shows up.

  • Yes this winter is a bear. On the bright side, I ended up napping from 12:00-3:00 today after H whipped up some snow day Bloody Mary's. Rough winters can have an upside!
  • We were in the mixed weather part of the Midwest.  My drive to work was rough with the heavy sleet, rain on top of snow on the Interstate that was not plowed.  Had my boss take over an hour to get to work.  When I got home from work and was working on shoveling our drive, there was a lot of ice on top of the 3 or 4" of snow that we got last night.
  • I got to work from home yesterday but ended up feeling sick last night and called out today.  So now I am watching all my stuff on the DVR and crocheting a scarf.
