AW: my friend gave me an awesome gift
If you haven't read the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, drop what you're doing and go read it. While I could not directly relate to the main character's experience, the way Anderson describes her struggle and the character's attitude toward high school really stuck with me. It's the one book that I can say really changed me. I've probably read it 15 times.
My friend gave me a signed copy today. It's personalized. Ohmgdohmgdohmgdohmgd!!!!! "To Poppies - Stay strong and keep speaking up!" I sobbed in my classroom when she gave it to me. I so needed a pick-me-up this week, and my friend nailed this one!
