For those not on FB...baby wearing question.

I would love a wrap.

I am debating between the Moby and the Boba. Thoughts?
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

  • *butting in from lurking*
I have a friend that's a certified baby wearing instructor (or whatever they call themselves) and see recommends the Boba. That's what I'm going to get.

  • They're pretty much the same thing.  We have a moby and a K'tan.  The K'tan stretched out like a mo fo.  We do have a Boba soft sided carrier, and recently got a ring sling because he prefers to be on my hip, rather than right in front.  We haven't tried the back carry.  (which is way more than you asked, LOL_)

  • I didnt have a wrap. I have an ergo. I will just say that babywearing makes me so happy and I would have lost my mind in the infant stage without it.

  • I have the k'tan which was awesome for NB-6m but I moved to a Becco Gemini after that. Mine stretched too but would shrink back after washing/drying. I have heard it is like the moby, just without the excess.

  • I have a Moby and it is great, but I actually like my infantino front to back back-pack carrier better. The Moby is cuddlier but the infantino is so much more convenient.

  • I had a Moby and loved it but it can be a lot of fabric to handle. FWIW, I also have a woven wrap, an ergo, a Mai tei and a ring sling. All served their purpose, but we use the ergo as a back carrier exclusively at his age and size now.

  • We had a moby for Delilah when she was little and it worked great around the house when she was small but was difficult to deal with outside of that environment. When she got a bit bigger we used the Ergo and loved it. I was still wearing her in it without a problem in the early stages of pregnancy with zack.

Then with zack we got the infantino Mei tai for when he was small and I loved it so much more than the moby. It was a lot easier to use for me. Now that he's bigger though we are using just the Ergo again.

  • I have a moby, and I've never felt the fabric of a boba. I loved my moby, and can't wait to use it again with this LO. I also want to get a ring sling though.

  • I had a k'tan and didn't like it. My baby was big and I think the k'tan I got was too small because we didn't fit well in it for very long. I ended up also getting the infantino mai tei which I love, and an ergo, which I also love.

Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
  • Update: I finally found somewhere to try a bunch of them.

I had ring slings that my sis and I made with baby wearing fabric she brought me from Africa.

One of the women at my church makes woven wraps and I think after trying that and a stretchy wrap (like the moby), I am going to invest in that since I can do all sorts of carries through the toddler years.

I tried the Ergo and the Tula. I love the Tula and will probably invest in one eventually for R and I to use as baby gets older.

And just a word of caution/advice, a stretchy wrap is not safe to carry a larger baby (really over 15lbs) you dont get a tight enough tie and they can flip out. You may want to look into a woven :)

You can carry a baby over 15lbs in a stretchy wrap. Many people just don't find it to be as comfortable because they start to sag. You can't do back carries in a stretchy wrap because they are not as wide and thus you can't get a deep enough seat. But a front cross carry or pocket carry is fine with a stretchy wrap even with a big  baby.

I loved my boba wrap so much because I loved the extra stretch it had. It was soo comfy. I have a woven wrap, a ring sling, and a soft structured carrier, but the boba wrap is my favorite for a little baby (and my baby wasn't all that little). I do want to try a hybrid wrap though like JMPBB. What I like about JMPBB and Boba wraps is that you tie them tight to your body and then they stretch to fit the baby in. Super easy and you get a snug fit that my DS loved. I didn't really have to adjust or worry if I left too much or not enough room. I used to put my wrap on at home under my coat so that I didn't need to worry about tying it when I was out and dragging the ends on the ground in the process.

I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.

I think my post wasn't super clear. I am planning on the woven. I didn't like the moby, although I can't seem to find a boba to try. The moby just seemed to be HUGE and I couldn't get the knot to stay, despite the bump. I can't imagine how it'll fit without the bump.
