Hi ladies,
My name is Jenny. I've been married nearly 5 years (at the end of the month!) and my H and I have just bought a house. Once we're fully settled we're going to start trying. I've lurked around this board for years, and thanks to you all I have learned a lot- I did Fertility Friend a few years back for several months, and I plan to get back into it as soon as this month's AF is over.
I'm 32 and DH is 44. We are both overweight. We're both trying to get healthier and in better shape before pregnancy.
I just have a few other questions for you all about getting my body ready for pregnancy.
I am taking prenatal vitamins.
I am starting to eat a healthier diet-drinking more water, eating more fresh fruits and veggies and trying to eat less processed foods. I'm also trying to keep more active. I'm just wondering if there is anything else I should be doing before pregnancy- should I start to try to cut down on coffee? (I don't drink it every day but when I do it's usually 2-4 cups). Are there any other foods I should eliminate BEFORE pregnancy? (sushi, cold cuts etc?)
Any other advice anyone can offer would be much appreciated.
I look forward to being more active on this board.
Thank you and good luck to all who are TTC
Re: preparing your body for pregnancy- a few questions / intro post
As far as foods go, I wouldn't bother eliminating any yet. That's a personal choice though. While I was pregnant I still ate cold cuts, sushi and drank coffee. My doctor told me up to 500mg a day was okay. It depends on you and your doctor though. I know some women have to avoid it completely, or drink a lower amount.
As far as advice goes, I think you are on the right track with getting healthy and you are familiar with fertility friend, so I say just enjoy those first few months, have fun and hopefully your journey will be short and sweet!
I didn't eliminate caffeine while trying to get pregnant, but that is totally a personal choice! Good luck!
