  • What was the last book you finished? The Interestings.  I was pretty disappointed in this book :(  I kept reading all of these rave reviews calling it the best book of the year, etc...so maybe I just had my hopes set too high.  I found the characters to all be annoying in their own way, and just had trouble getting into it.

What are you currently reading? I just started The Husband's Secret

What's next in the line up? Jodi Picoult's The Storyteller

  • I have actually read a few grownup books lately.

I first read The Painted Girls, some historical fiction about the ballet dancers that Degas painted back in the 1800s France.  I enjoyed the story and read it over the course of a week.
Then I got And the Mountains Echoed.  Again, i enjoyed that book as well however there was like a chapter or two I was all "I don't care about these people, what point is it to tell me about them....get back to the others".
And currently have the Poisionwood Bible out of the library. I am just a little into it so far, so I am not quite sure how I feel about it yet.
  • Amanda-I LOVED and the mountains echoed, but I agree....there were some characters I was into a lot more than others and I got impatient for the story to get back around to them!  I also felt like it needed a guide or something so that I could know who all of the characters were.  I found myself having to flip back to remember the relationship between some people.

  • I have not ready anything in a while, so I can't remember the last book that I read.  I love reading, but sometimes I get so invested in the characters, that once I finish a book, it's hard to start another.  It's like I am in a mourning phase or something, lol.

I just started The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult.  Emmy - So far I like it!

Next Up:  I'm not sure, but I just saw that Jennifer Weiner is coming out with a new book.

  • Just finished - Where'd You Go Bernadette.
     - Really enjoyed it. I don't know that I'd have picked it up myself, but I ended up liking it. I found myself thinking it was going one way and there'd be a plot twist. I didn't see the major twist coming that changed the course of the book.

Reading now - Into the Darkest Corner.
     - A good dark and twisty book - so far, so good:)

Reading next - This is Where I Leave You
  • What was the last book you finished? "Becoming Sister Wives" (by the Brown Family of the TLC show Sister Wives.)  DON'T JUDGE ME!   Before that it was "Into the Darkest Corner" by Elizabeth Haynes.

What are you currently reading?  "Revenge of the Tide" by Elizabeth Haynes

What's next in the line up? I'm not sure, I have 200 books on my kindle that were all free, so something from there, I'm sure.

Reviews: If you like Sister Wives, their book was a quick read.  (I read it in a day) It gave more insight in to things - like Meri is a bitch, Janelle sees its as more of a business arrangement.  HA!  I really liked "Into the Darkest Corner", Elizabeth Haynes reminds me of Lisa Jackson or Tami Hoag if you like those kinds of murder/mystery books.

I recently finished Champion. It's the last book in the trilogy by Marie Lu. I went into the series not expecting much but I actually really liked it. If you like the whole YA dystopian trilogy trend, this was a decent series.

I'm currently reading Blackberry Winter. It's ok. Not anything fantastic but its really easy to read and I'm interested.

I'm probably going to read Violets of March next. Same author as Blavkberry Winter. I have BW through library in ebook and Violets of march just came available too. I fear they will be too similar but figure I might as well read it since its available.

  • Gwen-I LOVED Where'd You Go Bernadette!  Such a quirky, different read, but I was totally sucked in!

Currently reading: Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. It is the sequel to The Shining and Danny Torres is all grown up.

I started The Art of Racing in the Rain and had to stop. I cannot deal with dying dogs, seriously I was a mess two pages in. I think putting down 2 dogs in 2 years plus having another senior dog is just bad for animal books.

Up next is either Mrs. Lincoln's Dress Maker by Jennifer Chiaverini or Casino Royale by Ian Fleming because I am on a James Bond kick right now, probably because I just watched Skyfall and I think Daniel Craig is my new favorite Bond.:x I have also been reading Sherlock Holmes stories in between books. I need to stop watching BBC America and Masterpiece Mystery.

  • The last book I read was A Dog's Purpose

I loved it so much that I am currently reading the sequel; A Dog's Journey

I have no idea what's next.  I will be taking notes on this post.

  • I read this one a while ago, but if you're looking for recommendations... "Irreparable Harm" by Melissa Miller is really good.  IT's a series about a lawyer and an FBI agent.  But, the best part is the books are set in Pittsburgh.   The characters would eat at Primanti's and Mineo's.  The lawyer jogged near the Cathedral of Learning daily and lived in Shadyside.  I loved reading a book set in the 'burgh!   Irreparable Harm is the first, but it is a series, I think there are 5 or 6 books.  (There was another one on Book Bub today, which reminded me of them).
  • Nice, I love books set in Pittsburgh! (or even if they mention Pittsburgh, like a character was from there originally...love the little shout-outs!)

I'm in the middle of Admission now. So far I like it.

I read A dogs purpose recently too. I loved it. One of my all time favorite books! I'm halfway through the sequel but had to put it down for a while. I'm not loving it as much as the first unfortunately!

  • I just finished Wonder by RJ Palacio. My sister loaned it to me because she said it should be recommended reading for all of humanity. After finishing it I'd have to agree. Loved it. And it was young adult lit and a quick read.

I'm currently reading Tori Spelling's newest Spelling It Like It Is. I really enjoy Tori's books, but with all of the gossip about Dean it's an odd read.

Next up is either The Interestings (though now I don't know!!) or The Engagement

  • I only do a book or two a year.  Last one was Catcher in the Rye.  It was OK but did not live up to the hype imo.  Perks of a Being a Wallflower was way better.  I highly recommend that book (and movie).
  • The last book I read was A Dog's Purpose

I was wondering if A Dog's Journey would live up to my expectations.  I loved the first one so much it's going to be hard to top it.

  • I am on the third Fifty Shades of Grey book.  I think they are poorly written but I can't stop reading.  I will be happy when I'm through this one and can move on with my life.  I wrote down a bunch of books from this post.  I've been wanting to read some of the Rizzoli and Isles novels too by Tess Gerritsen.  The show sucks me in and I've heard that the books are much better than the show.  I've been loving using the Philiadelphia Free Public Library through my kindle app on my ipad.  I see myself reading a lot more in the future.

You'll have to let me know what you think! I'm hoping the 2nd half is better but I'm definitely having a head time with it.
