Rock n' play - yay or nay?

So I live in Canada and we don't have it here but I live near the border and was wondering if it was worthwhile to go down and get one. We do have a swing but what appeals to me is that the RNP is easy to travel with and I could have it in our living room (swing stays in my office). Do you like it? I think I remember hearing on other boards that some people's babies refused the crib or something because they loved the RNP so much. I don't want that to happen. But wouldn't have her in it a crazy amount.

Just wondering your thoughts. I couldn't find one here used since they don't sell in Canada. Thus the hemming and hawing.

Re: Rock n' play - yay or nay?

  • I used ours as a place to put Lucy when she was sleeping and/or perfectly content. She only ever slept in it at night a couple of times since I didn't want her getting used to the incline. I love that's it's easy to move around the house and doesn't take up too much space. It's not a necessity in our house, just a nice convenience.

  • I love it! And FWIW, Adalyn sleeps in it for naps, and sleeps in her crib or in the bed with me just fine. It's also great for reflux babies. :)

  • yayy all the way. Cora slept in it overnight until 4 weeks old when we transitioned to the crib, so we didn't have any transition issues. She napped in it until she outgrew it. I loved moving it from room to room, and taking it with us when we traveled. We are getting the rock n play bassinet with this one, so we don't have to worry about the incline.

  • We loved it!!  It was great to haul with us when we needed to and didn't take up so much space.  We also had some reflux issues so it helped with that too!

  • It's been great, since it's small and easy to move from room to room but he won't sleep flat on his back, so no crib for us yet.

  • I bought one this time because I heard how much everyone's baby loved their's. He slept in it at the beginning but not much lately. I don't regret having it though since it wasn't very expensive. Found it on sale at Wal-Mart for about $50.

  • We used ours quite a bit. Are they allowed in Canada?

  • B had horrible reflux and the RNP was a life saver. It was also so easy to use when we traveled. Between the RNP and the swing I was able to keep him happy during reflux flares (and my sanity).

  • We like ours for convenience too. My SIL babysits sometimes and since it folds up it's easy to take to her for a place for him to nap. We use it for content times too every once in a while.

W was sick in December and the doc suggested he sleep in it to help his congestion. He slept great and had no problem getting back in his bassinet after a week or so.

  • I couldn't live without them.  They are mobile and we move them from room to room as needed.  We use them mostly for naps and just hanging out.  The boys have had no issues transitioning from RnP to crib.
