UO Thursday

I hate the term AF I think it is way more disgusting than saying period. It skeeves me out. I think that adult women should be able to say period on a board filled with other women who also have periods.

What's yours?

Re: UO Thursday

  • I agree. Same goes with BD for sex. lol.

I agree.  However, I also look at it from a social aspect.  Communities (real and virtual) develop languages.  I find it fascinating to see code, slang, new words, etc. develop.  If people ONLY used AF then it would seem a case of not wanting to say period.  But they use code words for everything on TN/TK/TB.

And as far as AF goes, I read it as period. I sed it as a slang on the board not that people actually say that IRL. Kwim?

Kind of like WTF, I read it as the sentiment not as the actual 3 words it stands for.

We cannot be friends.... I love that they are nationally televised because otherwise I would never be able to watch my team play. I'm not the biggest fan of the in depth analysis though because I think most announcers a biased and they often say stupid things or the same thing over and over.

UO: I don't like most female announcers. I find them annoying and pointless especially when it comes to sports related things.

I agree to an extent. However, I think they shouldn't be televised, marketed, or sold as video games because they're exploitative, not because they're boring.

  • I don't know if this is UO or not, but it's all I've got.  I hate viewings before funerals.  They really creep me out and I don't want to see my loved ones like that.  That is not at all how I want to remember them.

I'm with you. I get that some people need closure and that's fine, but I really hate it and won't go in unless absolutely necessary. Thankfully, my family isn't big on viewings (or even funerals... on my dad's side, we just hang out at someone's house and have a party in the deceased's honor), but DH's family is. Ugh. In fact, I think almost every dead body I've seen has been on his side, with the exception of 2. And one of those was a family friend of his. I just can't. I can't handle it. And it makes me feel disrespectful to the dead if they're lying there and we're all off to the side talking, ignoring them, which I know is a ridiculous thought. But that's not as awkward as his cousin's wake... sadly, she had shot herself in the face so we're all standing there looking at her (because I couldn't get out of it) and they were all talking about what a great job they did fixing her up (you couldn't tell at all). They kept looking for the wounds. I wanted to puke. So disrespectful and... awkward or something.

Sorry, that got long. All I wanted to say was that I 100% agree, but I respect those that DO need that closure. :)

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

Is this a thing or are people just grabbing socks and putting them on. I wear mismatched socks in my boots all of the time. Nobody sees them and I'm too lazy to find matches sometimes. Or rather, I lost the match to two different socks a long time ago and those socks look similar enough that I just match them up, bc I'm cheap.

I'll have to think of an UO.

Yea, we were at a viewing last night and I felt a little awkward that everyone was standing around talking while there was a body in there.  It just freaks me out, but I do understand that some people want closure and I respect that.  I just try to stay away from the bodies!  I remember having to go to my grandpa's funeral when I was young and my parents made me go see the body and I realllly didn't want to.  I don't think anyone should have to if they don't want to!

I know that at one point they were selling socks that were on purpose mix-match, but you could tell which ones went together, like one would be white with dots the other would be black with dots.

I'm talking about people who just grab two socks that aren't even close to the same and put them on. I've had SIL send C with socks that are different lengths.

And I don't care if adults do this, I've done it. I feel like a baby doesn't get a vote and it just makes you look too lazy to sort your baby's socks.

I really hate it when people pierce their baby's/toddler's ears. The child really has no choice in the matter, and there's no reason for it whatsoever. Let the kid decide when she's old enough to want to get them done.
My BFF's niece decided she didn't like hers and ripped them out. Took part of her ear with it.

I'm torn on this because a lot of the time, I don't like it. But I can't say I don't like it as a whole because I have seen some ombre nails that I really loved. I think for me it is on a case by case basis.

And this would be the other reason I find it stupid. Kids are crazy and active and impulsive. I bet there are quite a few girls who've done the same thing.
