Re: Win and Whine Wednesday

  • Win-my mom gets some wires cut out of her mouth today. They will still band her jaw shut but she will be able to eat smoothies and stuff now since she will be able to open her mouth enough to get a straw in it.

Whine-My thumb is all swollen and red and I don't know why. It started out feeling like a hangnail was starting but then it never did. I have been soaking in Epsom salt and icing it but the swelling won't go down.

Whine-Ava Nichol has decided that 6:15 is wake up time now even though she has been sleeping until 8:30 for 3 months. I am having a tough time adjusting.

Win-We went to the outlet malls yesterday and I bought Ava Nichol a whole 2T wardrobe and the most I spent was $11 and that was on a swim suit.

Win-I got an awesome yellow, leather blazer for $40 that was originally $150 :D

Win-It is looking like DH and I might actually go to Vegas for my birthday :) so excited our first flying vacation together. We took a road trip to Yellowstone for our honeymoon and we have done weekend trips close by but never anything like this.

  • Win: I'm scheduled to work from home tomorrow while we get hammered with the latest blizzard.

Whine: DH will most likely be heading out on snow duty with BIL sometime late tonight/very very early tomorrow morning, and he's scheduled to work at Dick's tomorrow evening, and then he may very well be going back out on more snow duty. It's very likely I won't see him for over 24 hours.

Win: BIL pays DH really well for working snow duty for him!

Whine: I fully expect this snow to cause even MORE branches to snap off our gigantic pine tree. FX they continue to land harmlessly on the ground on not on the neighbor's car.

Whine: My stepson's BSC mother lost her job (again), didn't know he had a half day today (so DH had to pick him up from school), and is just a general fu*k up in life. I honestly don't know how she got this far in life being so irresponsible.

Bigger whine: it's rubbing off on my step son; he takes zero accountability for his actions and when he's punished here and then goes to his mom's, she doesn't follow through.  Hence, he's getting a new video game from her this weekend since DH would't let him take it with him because that was his punishment for his terrible behavior the last few days.  She always has to find a way to be the hero and make DH look like the bad guy.  It makes me so angry!

Win: All this just adds to our custody case and court is coming up soon. She's gonna earn herself a quick trip to China with the hole she's digging!

Win: DH and I have tickets to see Alton Brown on Friday!

Whine: If this show storm prevents us from going (it's an hour and a half away), I'll be really sad.

Win: I can't wait to have a day off on Monday!

Sorry my whines were more like vents/rants today! :-q

    I think I am getting sick :-(
I never get sick and I have been sick twice since DS was born 6 months ago and I know it is because I don't get enough sleep. I am so mad. I know there is nothing to do about it, but I hate it!!!!

YH's ex sounds like my BIL's ex. And the influence she's had on their daughter. No accountability, and she buys her all the expensive stuff she hasn't bothered earning at all. I feel awful for my BIL and sister that they have to try to undo the first 11/12 years of awful parenting she got from living with her mom until she finally moved in with them.

Win: I can't wait to have a day off on Monday!

You totally reminded me that I have the day off on Monday, too!! I'd completely forgotten! WOOHOO!!

  • Win: I got a ton of sleep last night!

Whine: DH was restless at 530 am, 15 minutes before his alarm and an hour before mine, so I missed out on that solid hour of sleep :-q

Whine: It's raining, all of the snow is melting, and we're on flood warnings. I left Washington to get away from this! Gross.

Win: 10 days until I get to see my family and the babies!

I feel awful for my BIL and sister that they have to try to undo the first 11/12 years of awful parenting she got from living with her mom until she finally moved in with them.
Unfortunately, we still have 50/50 physical custody (DH and I have full legal - a step in the right direction!), so my step son knows when he's pissed at us/his dad, he can escape in a few days to the magical land where he has no bed time, no rules, and a mother who will do anything just to spite his father.  Everyone tells us he'll get it eventually, but his mom obviously never got it, so I'm not so sure. I really hope the judge sees the truth and gives us full physical custody.  I know it'll be tough, but it will be so much better for him. He has transition issues as well as defiant disorder (I can't believe they actually have a name for what we used to just call being a disrespectful kid!). I can't imagine how hard it must be to be split between two totally different environments, so I think being in one place with one set of rules will do a world of good for him.  We'll just have to figure out how to get over the whole "your dad took you away from me" game the mother of the year is sure to play if we get what we want/know is best for him.

Wow, thanks for letting me vent! Anyone who got through that whole thing deserves a cookie. Here, have a bunch:

    Mmmm...cookies!!

I think BIL and his ex decided informally between themselves to switch up their custody agreement (they may have legalized it at this point, I haven't asked) when their DD decided she was sick of living with mom (who moved at least once every year and had recently had 2 babies in the last couple of years with 2 different bfs - great effing role model for a preteen girl!!) and wanted to live in one house and go to one school for more than a year so she could actually make and keep some friends. But even though she just has visitation with her mom now, BIL and sis still haven't been able to get her to apply herself to working hard toward anything, because if she wants something, her mom will just shower it on her, because buying her things is the only consistent form of affection she's ever given.

It's frustrating to ME and I'm not even directly involved!! I really hope court goes well for you guys and you can start teaching SS some better values and behaviors.

  • Win: I was off yesterday, am off today through Friday. (Yes, that's a serious win). Whine: I've essentially done nothing and really have no motivation to change that. I'll prob do it anyways just so DH doesn't think I'm a total bum, but I'll wait till the last minute to do it.

Whine: I still really miss Coke every day.
