Re: Book Club Monday

  • Haven't started it yet, but DH got me The Book Thief...anyone heard of it?  I am excited to start it later this week, hopefully.

  • Evan - The Book Thief is fantastic! I'm excited to hear what you think about it.

I'm reading The Universe Versus Alex Woods. I started it yesterday after finishing Ready Player One (it was sooooo good!) which is so far my favorite read of 2014.

I am on #18 of 50 for the year.

  • I just started The Book of Joe by Jonathan Tropper this morning. I've loved everything else I've read by him, but so far I'm having trouble with this one because I hate the protagonist so much. But, I did literally just start it about two hours ago, so who knows.

  • I started reading "To Boldly Go" by Anesa Miller. It's a collection of essays, so pretty unlike the usual fiction I partake of, but I thus far like both the style and the messages.

I don't have a numerical goal of books to read for the year, but I kind of feel like I should step up my reading game. I've gotten so many freebies from BookBub of late that my 'to read' queue is getting kind of long...

  • I'm going to finally read Into the Still Blue I started one chapter like 2 weeks ago.

I got stuck in a Netflix loop.  I get, this obsessive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njr3aFpTMyQ

  • I finally finished The Golden Lily and I read The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead. If any of you have read her Vampire Academy series, I'm loving this spin-off!!

Evan, I just started The Book Thief yesterday!! I'm excited about it. I've heard good things. I'm not sure I follow it completely yet, but I'm sure it'll get there. :)

  • I started the Bronze Horseman but put it down. Its good but its a very slow read for me. I started Ravem Stole the Moon by Garth Stein and am really enjoying it.

I also finished listening to The Language of Flowers which I absolutely loved. Now I am listening to Where We Belong.

@willyh19 - Ready Player One is one of my favorites too. I tried to get DH to read it since he loves video games but he wont. I even told him I would read it to him.  Lol!!

I'm trying to convince my H to read it too, I know he would love it! I will probably end up buying the audiobook and we will listen to it on our next long road trip.

That's a good idea about the audiobook. Off to see if they have it at the library. :)

  • Reading the bronze horseman - Paullina Simmons, I'm sucked in!

Listening to life after life, it's getting more interesting. A little.

I'll be listening to more audio books now, after 6 years, my boss decided watching movies on devices at our desks are unprofessional. Trust me Mr boss, I've watched the movies I have 100000000 times, it's mostly for background noise. I can't do music, I'll sing, which is probably even more unprofessional...

@cathy7910 - where did you stop tbh?! I can't stop reading, I'm about half done. Something happens that makes you can't stop...

The audio book is one of the best!

    Attempting to restart Fangirl again.

I'm still a bit happy though. I set my goodreads goal for 12 (book a month for the year) and I'm still apparently ahead of schedule thanks to my mini splurge earlier this year.

  • @mana8503 - I don't even think I am on page 100 but don't worry I am going to work on it some more. I think that the length of the book is intimidating me a bit.

Its *only* 600 pages haha. My book average last year was 550, I love big books. Yes, push through, it gets good. But at the same time I don't understand how there's 3 books haha.

  • I just started "Legacies" by F. Paul Wilson (Repairman Jack book #2). So far, it's caught my interest. I ended up finishing the first book quickly because I got sucked into the last 1/3 of it. I'm hoping that I get hooked on this one a little faster.
