Re: 16-22 Feb Work-out Accountibility!

  • So, I've been doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred...

I finished Day 7 last Thurs (I was shredding 3-4 days a week...I thought it was crazy to do this 30 days straight, so I take a rest day for every 2-3 workouts).

I was so happy with my progress so far and then it all fell apart after Thurs. I have an abdominal strain in my right oblique : ( I've had this happen twice before when I was doing Pilates 2x a week, and it takes forever to heal. I don't want to make it worse, so I haven't been Shredding. But, I feel like all of my progress will be gone once this is healed : (

  • Oh no @Nic12184!  I hope you heal soon!

H and I started T25 last Tuesday and followed the program until Saturday.  We planned on Sunday being our rest day and starting up again yesterday, but we were both exhausted from the weekend and decided to start up today instead.

I've been eating really good up until the weekend.  Friday was good, but had a bad dinner with it being Valentine's Day.  Saturday, we went out for dinner with some friends in Dallas and I ate a few slices of cheese pizza.  Then on Sunday, we went to a wedding and it wasn't the healthiest dinner there either.  I got back on track yesterday though and I'm trying not to beat myself up about the weekend.

I'm actually trying to do a lifestyle change.  I've been reading a lot about PCOS and it can have a huge impact on my life, so I am trying to make diet and activity choices that will hopefully help prevent diabetes, heart disease and cancer.  I've come to the realization that working out is a "have to" and isn't an option to skip it.  Also, because PCOS has caused me to have insulin resistance, I am limiting my carb and sugar intake.  The plus to this is that I will lose weight, but my main motivation for all of this is to just stay healthy.

Sorry, didn't mean to make that as long as it came out to be :P

  • I haven't participated in this before, but since the new year I've been trying to go to the gym 2-3 times a week at lunch. It was so hard to get a good workout in, within that hr. but I'm so excited because I bought an elliptical this weekend!! I can't wait to work out at home! I hope it will motivate me to work out a few more days a week and for longer.

  • ^^^^ Don't know what that's all about!  Anyhow, I've been bad since last week working out wise, but eating wise I've been doing really well.  One thing is I can definitely tell I'm more anxious, so I need to get back and burn some of that energy!  I seriously have come to the realization that I'm one of those hyper people who really need to work out to be calm.

  • Workouts:

I get a random bug up my butt that I need to workout, so I will that day.  Then a week later I realize I haven't worked out since. Lame.

    Food:

I've been on a salt binge lately.  It happens, lifestyle changes do not happen overnight and I'm only human.  I recently just haven't had the energy to put the time it takes to cook meals that are low in sodium.  February is also a tough month for behaving, everyone wants to take me to dinner for my birthday and then there's Valentine's Day on top of that.  It just gets tricky because most restaurants meals are 1400-3500mg a serving.

Hoping to get back on track this week.  Swimsuits are just around the corner.  It's 40 in Minnesota today!!!  That's shorts weather around here!

  • Workouts: doing really good, Sunday is always leg day and i was able to squat 115lbs unassisted up from 90 the weekend before, i have it on video and sent it to H, he was proud:) I told him i could probably squat press him and he was like "you could probably squat press the baby" lol

Food: I've been doing ok, i have my moments, i try to only weigh in once a week bc i hate the scale and cant let it determine how my day/mood will be!

  • I've been trying Couch to 5k over the past couple of months, but ended up having to give it up. My body is apparently not built for running; it doesn't matter what I do in terms of technique, new running shoes, anything, I always manage to hurt myself. Timis time it was my neck. Weird, I know, but I guess the high impact was going all the way up my spine and causing problems. So no more running for me! I'm disappointed I didn't reach my goal, but there's always the elliptical or the bike for cardio.

In more bad news, when I went to the doctor about the aforementioned neck pain, I saw in my medical records my current weight lined up with where I was right before I got married, and boy was that an eye-opener. 20 pounds since the wedding? NOT OKAY! So I'm back on Weight Watchers and down 5 so far. Losing weight generally isn't as much an issue for me as maintaining after I get sick of shelling out the money for WW and go off the plan. So that's my next task, figuring out a plan for when I reach my goal.

  • Ahhh!!  So excited!!  We just ordered some workout equipment and I can't wait to get it!  We got the BowFlex SelectTech Dumbells and the MaxTrainer.  Unfortunately the MaxTrainer is on back order and we probably won't get it for 2 months.  I just hope it's worth the wait!

  • How's everyone doing this week?  I was so close to caving in yesterday and taking a bite of my stepdaughters chocolate chip cookie!!  Even H was tempting me to just take one bite.  But, I'm the all or nothing type and if I cheat outside of my cheat day, then I'll fall off track.  I'm so excited for tomorrow - Saturday's are my cheat day. \:D/  Worked out everyday this week except Monday and working out tonight and tomorrow.  Sunday is rest day and back at on Monday.  I really want to drop a few more lbs by my birthday.  Fingers crossed.

I hope I'm not being too annoying by posting a lot in this thread; it really does help me stay accountable and motivated!  If I check in and report my progress, it makes me feel like I'm accomplishing my goals.

  • I had a crazy hectic week last week, BUT I still made it to the gym once.  Since I was running around doing stuff I don't feel too awful about it.  This week should be a bit better :)
