I need a "brain bleach" rec please!

I just wrapped one term paper and am starting another that I've dubbed the term paper from hell. Once that is submitted next Monday, I really need something to clear my brain and get my out of my reading slump.

Read any really good, quick/easy reading mysteries, romantic suspense or thrillers that I should get on my hold list at the library so I have it in time for next week? I just don't want anything too deep, or anything that I have to think about too much. I'm looking for pure entertainment!

  • I read Truly Madly Yours by Rachel Gibson recently. Taylormillgirl recommended it to me. It reminded me a little of her Sultry series. It was a very light and easy read that was also funny. If you haven't read the Sultry series, then I recommend that. :)

If you want a good romance/mystery, I'd recommend Nora Roberts.
Chasing Fire and Public Secrets are really good and I recently read Midnight Bayou and enjoyed that. Her books are always fun and easy reads that I don't have to think too much about, which is especially important for me around the time papers are due and finals are approaching.

Dean Koontz has a book called Intensity that is a really fast-paced thriller that I read in almost one whole sitting.

  • @AshleyT121 I just added you on GR (I think!  Hopefully I didn't add stranger.)

I was going to recommend Sandra Brown - Hello Darkness or Envy are my favorites.  I think her books are similar to Nora Robert's thrillers.

I just listened to Agent to the Stars by John Scalzi and I highly recommend it!  It's sci-fi/humor, but not too sci-fi-y if you aren't a sci-fi fan.  It's about a Hollywood agent who has been tasked with helping an alien race make their introduction to Earth.  They want to make contact, but they are smelly and not cute, and are afraid that humans will be frightened and try to kill them, so they want an agent to improve their image and help them come out as friendly aliens.  There's enough geekery, celebrity, snark and even some romance to make it such a fun read/listen.  Oh, and if you listen to the audio, then bonus -- Wil Wheaton narrates.  I loved it!
