Recommend your cell phone!

It's time for a new one. I have an old LG Envy from 2006. I've dropped it a few time and it's held up, but I want a new one. I am considering upgrading to a smartphone so all recommendations are welcome!

Re: Recommend your cell phone!

  • love my iphone. I love having facebook on it, and I post way more photos of my LO since I've had it.

  • I love my iphone as well.  I have the iphone 4 and am hoping to get the iphone 5c later this year as a gift to myself

  • Galaxy S4 here. LOVE it. Switched over from an iphone. Don't think I'll ever go back! It has a bit of a learning curve though so if you want semi-uncomplicated you might want an iphone.

  • I also switched over from the iPhone 4s. I bought a Galaxy Note 3 and absolutely love it. Pictures are such a better quality, and battery life is absolutely amazing. I can go in between days without charging it. (I'm a heavy user if that helps). You have the option of going between Chrome and the regular Internet. It has a stylus if I need to jot down ideas, and i have used the notepad on several occasions when watching some cooking shows.

Interesting! But what do you mean by "learning curve"? You've peaked my curiosity, tell me more please!

The S4 (and probably most Android-based phones) have a lot more options/settings/ability to customize. Coming from an iphone, I was a little lost at first. It could have been partially due to me being so used to the Apple format. iphones just don't have as many options and IMO are more user friendly. In the long run, I'd def recommend an S4 though! Honestly you can't really go wrong with either. I would stay away from Windows phones though. I've never heard good things.

Galaxy S4 all the way.  Never had an iphone, but many of my friends have converted to galaxies and loved it.

  • Thanks! We are pretty much a "Mac family", but H does have an old Android. I guess I'm just afraid of getting a smart phone and breaking it. My envy (non-smartphone) has taken quite the beating and still works pretty well. Pieces are just starting to break off now and it's looking a little rough.

I love my iphone but I had an LG smartphone (don't ask me which one anymore...lol) and it help up great. I agree, LG phones can take a beating which is why I stayed with that brand for so many years. Only reason I changed is because I switched providers to go on husbands plan and it was going to be easier to have same phone (cuts down on the amount of different chargers we need).

As long as you invest in a good case for it, you shouldn't have a problem with it breaking. I've dropped my S4 a few times with no issues (yet..haha). Just beware that once you delve into the smart phone world, you'll never want to go back! I've been thinking about downsizing back to a reg phone to save money but I just can't part with it now. ;)

get a good case and a screen protector for scratches and you will be good!  I've dropped my phone and DD has dropped mine on more than 1 occasion and nothing broke (knock on wood)

Oh my god. This alone confirms that I will never get a Windows phone. I haaaate Bing! Haha.

Good to know, I can't stand Bing too!
  • My new firm pays for a cell phone contract and a new phone every two years, so I just bought an iphone 5s after signing up with Verizon.  Holy amazing.  Granted, I never would have just outright paid for it but still.  It might be worth the $150 price tag.

I then spent $7 on this case for it:

I love the whole set up.  My phone is absolutely amazing.  It's also protected on all sides, and I have a place to stash my keycard to the office.

  • Another iPhone lover here. I'm online on my phone all the time and take tons of pics + vids of the kiddo. Those are the main features I wanted in a phone aside from calls
  • For the iPhone users; how's your battery life?
  • 2-3 days if you remember to close apps you don't use which can drain the battery
