Call back expectations

When you call the doctor in the morning, talk to the nurse and they say they will call you back with a response... Is your expectation to be called back that day?

This!  Same for if I leave a message.
  • My obgyn would normally state that non emergency calls would be returned within 24 hours, but they usually called back by the end of business day. Hope everything is ok!

  • Ok I really needed to make sure I am justified in my anger.

I called about my morning sickness because it's been over week and I still can't keep anything down at night. Jeff threatened me if I didn't call... He's worried. He only sees me at night and I'm at my worse.

I called and talked to the nurse. She was really nice, asked if I tried ginger and I listed the 100 other things I've tried. She confirmed my pharmacy, and said she'll talk to the midwife and call me back. I called after 5 hours, got the answering machine. Left a message included that I was leaving early in the morning. Nothing, so I called before the phones are turned off at 430 and it was still the machine.

@PhilaPhan - Idk what their policy is, but I guess I assumed since I talked to someone I'd get a response with 6 office hours left.

@mana8503 call the on call doctor. It may not seem like am emergency but you don't want to get dehydrated and the on call doc can easily call you in a script .

Just do it. I called about a UTI after hours once and I was afraid to because was it really an emergency ?? But ultimately they didn't care and I felt worlds better afterwards
  • I expect a callback that day. My doctors office will sometimes make calls after hours too. That can make for a long day. :( Did you try calling your pharmacy? Maybe they called something in for you?

  • I'd definitely call the on-call for that situation because I would have totally expected a call back that day. Especially for something like that where it is something so major but can be fixed so easily by them just calling in a script and then calling you back.

  • Yeah, I was still getting really nauseous with M when I was 18 weeks. I called left a message about it and she called me in a script within the hour because I was miserable. I'd keep calling.

  • Once it stops pouring rain and I can hear I'm calling again. I'm going to ask what their call back policy is and hopefully they will send a rx to nc.

  • Finally got ahold of them... Nurse remembered me, but doesn't know why the doctor / midwife didn't do anything.

They are giving me Zofran, and I got them to call it into the Walmart in NC. I hope relief is soon.

  • Let's talk about Zofran. Order this http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Vitality-Calm-Raspberry-Lemon/dp/B00BPUY3W0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393000752&sr=8-1&keywords=nature's+calm and drink it EVERY day if you ever want to poop again.

But seriously. I have never been so constipated in my life.
