I am planning to "spruce" up 2 full bathrooms in my house....not a full
renovation. Budget is definitely a concern. Would LOVE some input for
colors and ideas!
For reference, the rest of the house is transitional/traditional
decor style with a color palate of ivory, white, slate grey, charcoal
grey, black, burgundy, sage green, etc. It is a VERY open floorplan, so
cohesive design is something to think about. We have dark furniture
woodtones (cherry, 'cappuccino' finishes), with a combination of medium
woodtones on railings, baseboards, doors. Fixtures throughout the house
are a combination of oil-rubbed bronze and brushed nickel.
MASTER BATH (pics included)
Bedroom nearby is painted light sage green, white drapes,
white/ivory/black linens. We are considering some sort of grey paint in
this bathroom, and are already planning to stain the cabinets to a
mocha gel finish. Our biggest worry is that the fixtures are all Ivory
or beige. Countertop is an odd beige with a slightly yellow tone (not
sure if that's just how the light hits it though). The floor is
vinyl...mostly ivory with a bit of grey and rose coloring. This bathroom
is small, with no windows nearby.
Question: What color scheme do we go with? Will grey work, or will
it make the ivory and beige stand out horribly and look too yellow?
Does grey work with medium toned baseboards and doors and darker
cabinets? I've seen a ton of grey with white baseboards, but not much
else!
- other changes we're considering: replacing light fixture, faucet,
cabinet hardware with brushed nickel, border on the mirror (though
worried it might make the room 'shrink'), doing something about the
medicine cabinet.
- not considering: replacing any large fixtures (cabinets, counter,
mirror, tub, toilet, sink). floors (unless we have no other option).
SPARE BATH (pics not included)
Basically a 180 degree layout flip of the master bath with a smaller
glass/bronze shower stall instead of full tub. Planning to do the same
stain/hardware swap in this bathroom. Thinking of a more earthtone
scheme for this bathroom. Will a darker sage green, taupe or brown wall
color work? Think "palm tree" decor in here.
Same 'consideration' list as above applies here too.
Again, our biggest worry is that with small rooms and no windows, we
don't want to make the rooms feel smaller, but we also HATE the
combinations of ivory/beige blah that we currently have. Help!

Specific colors or photo examples are welcome as we start planning for
this project. Thank you all!
