  • 1. How MM was your weekend?
Could have been worse. We spent some money at the vet and pet store, but that was all budgeted for (total about $50). We got out tax return back, so we treated ourselves a little. DH used some money for a new graphics card for his computer (on sale, $125) and he also took me out to this little cafe for lunch that his friend told him about. The food was good, but it was a little pricier than we expected--lunch came out to about $50 for two small meals and two chai teas!

    2. Any progress towards your goals?
We paid a little more money off of DH's student loans so we only have about $6,100 left, which we should be able to finish paying off in the next couple of months.

    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time?
This one's a toughie! I think it would be my grandma's gnocchi with homemade tomato vodka sauce.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Mine was not very MM friendly, but most was planned. DH bought a car that was at our price point, we went out for a celebratory dinner ($60, not planned), stayed within budget on groceries but bought a new cleaner that should last us a year ($40 also not planned) and DH went out to dinner with his friends and spend some money (~$50, also not planned). Luckily, we didn't have to open up a new insurance policy for DH's car, so I saved that money.

    2. Any progress towards your goals?

We received a settlement check of a whopping $20 and a refund off of Verizon from cancelling them ($8), so those will be going to our Efund. We did receive our Federal tax refund on Thursday and put $2500 towards DH's DP. I still have the remaining balance in my checking account until Friday, but since we spend a little more than planned, I'm waiting for DH's paycheck to come in so I can see if we need to keep some of that refund money (hopefully not) and then move the rest into our Efund.

    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time?

Mine has always, and will always be pizza. I am such a simple person when it comes to pizza that I love, love, love cheese, and will also eat pepperoni. I will venture out sometimes and try something new, but plain cheese pizza wins hands down. I could eat that every day.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Good- me and the girls are sick with colds/fevers, so we didn't leave the house and hardly ate anything. DH went to get groceries for the week on Saturday- $92 but he forgot a few things- probably an extra $20 we'll pick up after work tomorrow.

    2. Any progress towards your goals? Yes- Vacation account opened ($2,500), Roth IRAs opened (2013 $5,500 each and will start 2014 contributions probably in April), wills, living wills, and health care proxy are being drawn up this week ($350 for all), Savings is on track, and one home improvement project is set up for March (new side entrance door that we desparately need).

    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time? It would be a toss up between sushi and thai... I could eat it every day!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad.  Went grocery shopping Friday and finished out this months' grocery budget.  Then did nothing that used money Saturday or Sunday.
    2. Any progress towards your goals? Paid of $10,500 in student loans!!!!!
My commissions and bonus this month will likely give us another $1k to put toward them. YAY!
    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time?  Hmmm, probably the salmon dish at the french restaurant on our Honeymoon in Dominican.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?
We did OK in our current crunch...I did end-up meeting up with my GF who was in town and I haven't seen in a year I spend $20 on lunch at the brewery, I feel a little guilty, but I skipped dinner out with the group, so it could have been worse. I was able to keep our weekly groceries under $60 to meet our monthly goal of uner $300 so that made me feel good.
    2. Any progress towards your goals?
H filled out 6-7 job applications this weekend, so I'll call that progress
    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time?
Lobster/clam bake (potato salad and corn on the cob are necessary).

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not the best- I bought gas $30 and stamps for our wedding invitations around $200!! Crazy expensive for invites that weren't supposed to be extra postage (psh $.70 to mail!), but oh well. I'll be so happy when all this wedding crap is behind me.

    2. Any progress towards your goals? I paid a little towards credit cards, but not a whole lot. I'll be happy when I finally get my raise and I can just pay off all the small ones and start chunking away at the big one and building a savings!

    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time? Ah it's so hard to decide but I would have to say pizza. I absolutely love pizza and could eat it every day if given the chance.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not too bad - $67 on groceries, $3 on some McDonalds lol

     2. Any progress towards your goals? Did some bills this weekend, and realized I can pay off our motorcycle next week! Once we get the title in hand, that thing is getting sold! Then we'll be at our 7 mo emergency fund.

    3. Oh man, this is too hard. I love lobster, pizza, a really good pasta...

    1. How MM was your weekend? Our weekend went okay. We spent a $37 on our niece's birthday present that was a last minute thing and went out twice for food $20 & $14, but that's the only thing we spent money on so not too bad. We always try to share meals when we are at the restaurant to save money and not eat too much.

    2. Any progress towards your goals? DH was able to put $600 towards our downpayment! We have changed our housing plans a lot since last week. We have decided to just do 5% down in the area we really want to stay in. So it looks like we have enough for a down payment. We planned to buy a really cheap place and move in 5 years, but now we will just move to the area we wanted to move to... We need to save now for closing costs (will ask seller to pay though) and we want enough money for our emergency fund and other expenses for moving and getting the house ready. Hoping to buy in 3-4 months! Together we have $9800 I believe. We want to buy a house around $175k.

    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time? My favorite meal is probably pizza. I worked at a pizza place for 2.5 years a while back and ate pizza every shift. When I quit I missed it. I never got tired of it. That was one of the things we ate this weekend! :)

  • I told DH how much we had in the efund currently ($4,444) and he said we should stop there....no way!  Not till we get to 6K!

  • 1) It was pretty good! Friday night we contributed to dinner with the BIL (~$20). Saturday H got a haircut and gas ($50). Sunday we got a coke and fries at Wendy's ($4)...Nice :) We did go out for dinner/trivia on Wed though and that was about $40.

    2) Not spending much $ is our progress these days. It all goes into our main checking account. Wish we had a savings acct to keep it separate but our checking account offers more interest than a normal savings acct...

    3) It's a toss up between pizza and Indian food. I can't get enough of either!

  • How MM was your weekend?

Better than last weekend, that's for sure!

    $47 Dog haircut

    $32 Chinese take-out

    $41 Gas for H

    Total:$120

    Any progress towards goals?

We put money into our e-fund, house DP, and vacay fund

    Favorite meal?

I don't really have a favorite, but lately it's been Chinese!

  • 1. Didn't spend money other than on gas this weekend.  My parents took us out for H's birthday on Sunday, so we got a nice meal for free!

    2. It was a pay week this week, so I put another chunk toward the credit card.  Hoping the tax return shows up this week, so we can pay that off.

    3. I love food.  I'm craving Mexican right now, so let's go with that.
  • 1. Another week that didn't go so MM for us: $370 on new cell phones for MIL, H and myself.  (Yeah, I got the iPhone 5s) A friend just had a baby so we paid $10 for a small gift. H had friends in from out of town so we paid another $14 for party mixers & snacks. Later we went out to a bar down the street, but the good news there was someone being generous and picked up the tab for everyone.

    2. I made a short term goal for next weekend; Not spend any money other than what we have in our basic budget. The last two weeks, while we planned for it, we did spend a lot.

    3. It's difficult to pick a favorite, but I really love Chicago Style Pizza.

    1. How MM was your weekend? It was great! $12 on Saturday at Cold Stone. 2. Any progress towards your goals? Made an extra payment towards my car this month. 3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time? I love food too much to pick just one!
  • 1. Not MM at all! I bought two pairs of shoes for $50/each. Granted both were practical (1 work and 1 exercise) and sorely needed, and both were 50% off regular price, but I'd only budgeted for the work shoes this week. I also spent $126 on a big grocery shop and $36 on garden supplies. H was great-spent $0. He wins this one!

    2. Some money to savings, but less than planned because of above.

    3. My favorite meal is the Inferno Pasta from Mews Restaurant in Provincetown, MA. Sadly it's off the menu, but hoping it returns soon!
  • 1. How MM was your weekend?
Not good...I spent $200 at the mall on my credit card on new work clothes.  But it was a momentarily lapse and once I am in my new apartment it will be going back in the right direction.

    2. Any progress towards your goals?
Put money in savings to save up for things I need at new apartment and also rent.

    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time?

    Chourico and peppers
  • 1. How MM was your weekend?
Not very. Spent several hundred that wasn't really budgeted. I got a new phone (t-mobile) and we will save money after 10 months (including phone), bought a large bad of dog food, $50 on gas, $20 on paint for the bathroom.

    2. Any progress towards your goals?
Nothing currently. I used a large chunk of our tax refund on student loans and now am waiting for my H's backpay to pay another large chunk.

    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time?
I love food, I want all the food!
  • 1) Not bad, my brother doubled the money I gave him at The Night at the Races where MW's grandfather runs (aka her whole family is involved from bar tending to running most of the windows and selling 50/50 tickets).  I did have to spend $14 to fix a kitchen drawer that has been repaired before then bought pizza for LO and I since MW was having issues with Clomid ( the pizza made it through two meals).

    2) We got our State and Federal tax returns back so I have my credit card set to pay off at the end of this week.  That gives the time for the money to move from MW's account to my account.

    3) I tend to enjoy my brats especially when boiled in beer first.

    1. How MM was your weekend?
$75 on groceries, about $20 for other randoms (personal, ds's future big boy room), $50 on supplies to nix our cable TV. We always do our grocery shopping on the weekends so it was all planned. Otherwise we did library time with the kids, watched Netflix movies, read books, played games, etc.

    2. Any progress towards your goals?
Tax info has been mailed to our CPA. Did some tweaking on the budget.

    3. Since someone mentioned food in a pp, what is your favorite meal of all time?
I love salmon and rice but don't love to cook it... Lol

  • 1) Mine wasn't bad - $63 Costco run that let me stock up on some meat and other frozen items.  $24 Target run.  $41 for gas.

    2) I finally FINALLY got a 2-week paycheck so I can set a budget for March.  Sheesh...

    3) If I'm being honest, probably pizza.  If I'm being fancy, a really good filet.

  • 1. Pretty good! We didn't eat out and spent about $60 on groceries, $30 on books, And I bought some new pillows for our couch $30. This was all within our budget.

    2. We tweaked our budget to use going forward and changed our debt repayment strategy to a modified snowball. We are going to pay down some of the smaller loans first to improve our debt to income ratio for mortgage purposes while still paying more than the minimum on the larger, higher interest loan.

    3. I love crab legs! But that's a special occasion type food. I also love homemade hard shell tacos.
  • I know it's not Monday, but I paid off one of our credit cards with part of our tax return today.  Woo hoo!
