Homestead tax credit...help?

We bought our house last year and apparently got approved for this state tax credit. But in going through turbo tax, there isn't a section to put that info in. What are we doing wrong?

Re: Homestead tax credit...help?

  • It may be different in different states, but in Florida we have a homestead exemption and it isn't something you claim on your taxes, it is for property taxes so you have to go to the county property appraiser and sign up for it at the beginning of the year and it decreases the amount of property tax you pay on your primary residence. Is this what you are talking about or are you referring to something else?

  • Ours is the same as Daisy662, and we are in Texas. You can see it on your property tax bill when you get it- appraised value, taxed value are 2 different columns on our bill.

Ok maybe that's what it is. I did read something about it lowering property tax.

    Thank you both!
