Re: QOTD 2/26

  • Yep I've done lighter blonde highlights all the way to dark dark brown. I've been dye free for 5+ years now, so I'm my natural color again.

  • In high school and college, I had blonde highlights. Then, I switched to more red-ish highlights. My hairdresser told me it was cheaper to just do all-over color, so a few years ago I dyed it a richer brown with some red in it. Now that I moved, I need to find a new hairdresser. No color for me until I find someone I trust!

  • I had blonde high lights when I was in grades 8-9.  Then I dyed my hair brown all over to cover the  blonde.  When I was 16 I had pink hair, which I eventually dyed black.  I've been au natural for about 8years now.

  • I never colored my hair at all until I was 18 (wasn't allowed), then I got subtle blonde highlights.  I get them once or twice a year, but I don't want to mess with it too much as I'm a natural blonde.

If I was really daring, I'd go red, or get a pink streak in my hair or something!

  • I've done red and dark brown. I'm a natural blonde. I now just get blonde highlights every once in a while, the last time was right before the wedding. I  have a ton of hair, so it gets super expensive, plus I'm really really picky about who does my hair. Curly hair problems...

  • I started with blonde highlights in 7th grade (not a good look for me!!) then went to a medium-dark reddish brown. In 8th grade I bleached the last inch or two of my hair and dyed it first blue, then pink once that had mostly faded. It looked really cool when my hair was french braided. I dyed it black once my freshman year of college, which was a horrible mistake!

Now I typically do either a deeper red with a brown tint, or just a warm chestnut brown. I do it myself, usually. Occasionally I'll go pay to have it done at the beauty school.

I'm a poopy blonde color naturally.  I just put lighter highlights in it now.  I used to do all over bright blonde, but I never have time to get it done so my roots would get offensive a lot.  I switched to highlights so I stopped looking like I totally let myself go when it grows out.
  • I have to get my roots done because I've been getting grays for the last 5-6 years :(  I stick with my natural color and I wish I could get highlights or something, but my hair hasn't been the healthiest lately due to medical issues.

I've had it red, brown with red and blondish highlights, light brown with blondish highlights, brown to red ombre, black with red underneath, and I think that's it.

  • I'm naturally blonde and for a few years was colouring it a rich deep mahogany brown. It was a lot of maintenance because my blonde roots would be showing in a matter of weeks and I would like a skunk if I didn't colour my hair again. Now I'm back to my original hair colour and will probably keep it that way based out of sheer laziness.

  • Used to dye it. I think the last time I did was during college. Most of the time it was an Auburn color. It was a color called ruby fusion by Loreal.

  • I dyed my hair for the first time when I was 22, after I had my son. I am naturally blind but pregnancy made my hair mousy and gross so I dyed it bright red Lol since then I've been light blond, brunette and I am currently auburn and love it! I will probably keep this colour for a while
  • My hair is mousy and between blonde and brown. so I've been REALLY blonde, to warm light brown (reddish), to very dark. I usually dye my hair a dark light brown after summer because it'll look like I have roots from the sun lightening it.

  • My hair has been so many colors! Started with a reddish brown in high school, the more blonde for college, now every few seasons I go from dark brown to light blonde. I have been black red/purple as well lol! Just lightened it up this weekend as it was turning dark mousy brown!
  • Right before college I dyed it using one of those wash out in a certain amount of washes dye.  I liked it but only did it once.  I hated having to sit without moving for so long.

Almost 4 years ago, I decided I wanted to be a blonde.  My hairdresser said I was too dark to go all blonde at once, so I started with highlights.  I touched them up twice, but then I noticed my hair got really dry and fragile.  I dyed it all back to my natural color.  Some of it faded and a little blonde started to show through.  I cut the last bit out right after the wedding.   My hair has been natural since then.  No dye, straighteners, nothing.  After the baby, I think I'll donate my hair.
  • @sjs1013 I'm excited to see that somebody else donated. I did that a few months before my wedding. I was surprised that I had enough hair to do so and still have a bit left.

  • @consciousdear88 I donated my hair about 5 years ago.  It was unplanned but I was so happy to do it.  Since the prenatal vitamins are making my hair grow insanely fast, I figure why not give it to a good cause when I'm ready to cut it after the baby arrives.

I donated once back in 2005! I'm glad I did it, but I can't get it long enough now that my hair will be long enough for me to stand once I cut it.

That sounds like my reaction anymore to it. As much as I'd love to do it again, my hair gets entirely too thick and I just can't stomach it getting that heavy.
The only reason I really believe I was able to do it the last time was due to an old hairdresser I went to. (I went to get my hair done by a girl who was the older sister of a friend at the time. Even though my wedding was not for another two years or so, she refused to do anything drastic because she felt it wouldn't grow back in time.) By that point, it probably did have a good bit of length.
