Talk to me about early labor signs? TMI at times.

Moms, how early before you went into labor did you have early labor signs?  In the last two days, I have:

 - had extreme increased frequency in BH.  Like 10 in a half hour.  Not all day long, mostly in the evenings.  But some during the day.

 - experienced a cleansing back there for a couple of days.

 - Little girl has started to drop - started about 2 weeks ago.

 - And I think I started losing my plug last night.

I know that most of this is probably just coincidence, but I was wondering if anyone else had early labor signs and if so, how far before actual labor you experienced them.  TIA!

  • I just asked my friend about this because I think I just lost a chunk of my MP about a half hour ago.

She said she lost her plug about .5 seconds before her water broke so she's no help.

BUT...I'll definitely be watching this thread since I know our EDDs are so close!

    I'm excited for you @saisongbird!!

  • I'm not help because I was induced early. But I heard that you can completely lose your mucus plug but it can rebuild itself. I would just keep watching everything and if you notice anything strange to just call your OB to confirm.

  • That sounds like the starts of things to me...Iwould ssay it could be any day or it could still be a couple weeks.

I am not a whole lot of help because I went into preterm labor at 31 weeks so I had all that stuff and more going on until 38 weeks when I finally had her. They also stopped my labor twice in the hospital and put me on bed rest so that delayed everything.

The nurses kept telling me that you can lose your mucous plug for weeks but what really tells you it is coming up is the bloody show so if you see blood tinged/streaked mucous plug it can mean you are closer.

  • I'm really no help. I was in early labor and didn't realize it and then was induced with high BP.

TMI: I had a lot of diaherrea that has let up since he's been born. I don't know if I lost my MP..I'm guessing sometime during labor in the hospital. I didn't have a bloody show until I was in L&D but that's definitely something to watch for. It was a real thing.

I had a ton of cramping. They told me my anxiety was making my body turn his movements into pain because it was showing up at the same time as movement during the NST. However, when I went back with high BP, the cramping was contractions. He just also liked to move through them.
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

  • I started losing my MP a couple of weeks before my EDD but it wasn't bloody at all. I don't remember if I had diarrhea but I never ever felt a BH so I'm no help there. I actually went past my EDD and the day before I went into labor I was having cramping and contractions all day long.

When I lost my MP I was so excited and thought for sure I'd go into labor soon and when I didn't I was disappointed. Lol.

This sounds like it's the beginning of something though, how exciting!
  • With Delilah I started losing parts of my MP about a week before having her. With Zack I lost it at around 32 weeks or so and then started losing it again a few days before I had him so I'm guessing it regenerated after the first time.

I had no real other pre-labor signs. The mornings I went into labor I had menstrual like cramping and needed to use the rest room quite a bit right before the intense contractions started.

  • Everything you've mentioned is 100% normal for where you are in pregnancy and is a result of your body gearing up for labor.  I wouldn't say they are necessarily early labor signs, but it's a sign your body is getting ready.  I started losing my plug a few days before I went into labor.  Contractions increased, especially at night.  You could definitely be close!

  • Exactly what bb and Madeline said. I had early labor signs from like 34 weeks on and was still induced. It was really frustrating.
