How often do you change out your comforter?

And I don't mean, like how often do you clean it. I mean, the whole thing. Change of style, freshen up a room? I was just curious. I have ours and it was NOT cheap and I love it, but you know, I wonder. What do you all do? :)

Duvet covers. Seriously changed my life.
ETA: we update about once every 16 months. So, not often. We also have neutral covers and pillows. So all it takes is the duvet cover change to make the room feel different.

  • @poppies717 where do you get your duvet covers? I can't ever find anything we both like. We just have a white comforter right now.

Good to know! I seem to see a whole lot more duvets that I like than comforters! I don't feel so bad then, because ours has been the same for about the same time... :) I love a change, just don't want to seem like I do it too often. I did for a while before we got married. I ended up with a million bedding sets. Lol

  • I'm not much of a home decorator, but it takes my dog about 2 yrs to make a comforter utterly depressing, so I would guess I will be changing comforters every 2 yrs.

  • I've actually been thinking about updating our duvet cover. Right now, it's very neutral, but I'm wanting something with a bit more color to liven up the room. If only DH wasn't so against the update...

We got our duvet cover from IKEA.

  • I love duvet covers. I have a king sized blue down alternative comforter and a blonde dog so they are a life saver. I have one from Walmart (online), two from IKEA, and one from Target. IKEA offers a wide variety both in colors and patterns.

  • I've had the same duvet cover over our down comforter for the last 5 years. Seriously.

But I also allowed DH's choice of bright Caribbean blue paint on the walls, so we don't have a whole lot of leeway at the moment!
