I've been told the Brest Friend nursing pillow is the best of them all.  It has tons of great reviews and I like the idea of the belt to hold it up higher than the Boppy.  I've been thinking about completing our Amazon registry this week and figured I'd go into a little more depth with their reviews.  All of a sudden I'm seeing reviews about how "toxic" and "chemical" the padding/foam smells.  You can't wash the pillow itself because it's foam.  You can only line-dry the cover because it could shrink and the belt will get messed up.  I'm having second thoughts about getting it even though there are WAY more positive reviews than negative.

If you have this nursing pillow, is yours like this?

If you don't have this nursing pillow, what do you have and would you recommend it?

I've had mine for three years through two kids now and I love it. I've always washed the cover and tumble dried it without issue. I've also never noticed a chemical smell from the pillow itself.

I also have the boppy and do not like it at all for nursing. Because of the shape, baby doesn't lay on it nicely and I always felt like they were sliding between the pillow and my belly if that makes sense. The brestfriend has a flat top surface that makes it IMO much easier to use.

  • I used the Breastfriend and didn't like it. I borrowed it from a friend. She didnt like it either.

I used the boppy and like it a lot. But really, a regular bed pillow works too.

I think you just have to be open to trying different things until you get something that works. A lot of the things you think won't work do and a lot of the things that look great dont work.

  • I've always liked the boppy for holding the baby while sitting and bottle feeding. I've obviously never breasted with it (yet), but all my friends have it and have never complained. I've heard good things about the Brest friend, but have never tried it myself.

  • I thought I would want a My Breast Friend because of it's shape and design, but I find myself liking the Boppy a lot. I have two - one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I preferred using a regular bed pillow when E was tiny, but moved to the Boppy when she was bigger.

  • I would get a boppy, for one specific reason, you can use it for more than just nursing. Honestly I didn't feel the boppy was even necessary for nursing, but I love it for other things like propping her up. And the times I did use it for nursing, it worked just fine. If you get the breastfriend and decide you don't like it for nursing, you can't really use it for anything else. JMO

  • I was given my sister's boppy and breast friend and I like both. The breast friend was really good for when he was tiny. I kept it downstairs when I nursed most often and the boppy upstairs for middle of the night feedings. It was nice to have one on each floor and not have to carry it back and forth. The boppy does have a longer life span as we used it a lot to prop him and when he was learning to sit.

  • You know...after all of my questioning, I ended up ordering the Leachco Cuddle-U nursing pillow.  I figure that it was only $20 and if I don't love it, it was only $20.

  • @jennahack I've never seen that one, but it looks just like knock off of a boppy. I think that's a good choice, especially for the price. I like the little built in strap it has too.

The built in strap appealed to me, too.  It's also by the same company that makes the Snoogle pillow and I really like my Snoogle.  We'll see.  :)
