Monday Accountability Post

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend!

How MM was your weekend?

Any Progress Towards Goals?

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Re: Monday Accountability Post

  • How MM was your weekend?

    Walmart- $31

    Gas- $39

    B-day gift for dad- $25

    Dinner- $15

    Owe federal tax return- $67

    Total- $177

    Any progress towards goals?

Well H just decided he was going to partially drop out of the program that he was going to school for. He wasn't doing well and the teacher was a total airhead, so he will finish the pre-req class until August that he will need and will put the other part of the program aside for now until we decide if we are going to move to a LCOL by next year, so he may put off the program until that point. So we lost about $2500-$3000 as he got to the mid-term point, but that's ok. We will be able to continue building out E-fund/house DP fund while he just focuses on 1 class instead of 2.

If you could live anywhere, would would it be?

    1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good- usual groceries ($110) and we got take out on Saturday ($35). It was pretty cold here so we didn't really go anywhere- can't wait for spring!

    2. Any progress towards your goals? Not much new this week- waiting to get the wills in the mail so we can sign them and file them downtown. Our side entrance door will be installed in a few weeks so we'll be making payments on that with a 0% card for a few months.

    NYC for sure

How MM was your weekend? We used gift cards to go out to lunch on Saturday. We went out on Sunday for lunch which cost us probably $15. I also had to replace my headlight - $13. That was all we spent this weekend besides buying groceries.

Any Progress Towards Goals? We were able to put $1,100 towards our savings this week! So exciting! I got my state tax refund and this paycheck for me went almost all to savings. I picked up a babysitting job that I made $70 at on Saturday night. On Thursday I had an interview for a part time job and was offered it on Friday! I'll be working as an event aide for weddings at a venue and they tell me the shifts and I sign up for what I am available to do. I love that! So now I have a full time job, part time job, and a babysitting gig!!! So glad we are childless and young right now. We can work as much as we need to.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? I would live in Federal Way, WA - that's where we are trying to move. Doesn't sound super exciting - but it's around all of our family and it's so green in the Seattle area. I really enjoy it.

Not that great. I spent more than I planned on, and we went out to eat. I spent about $60 more than planned/budgeted.

    Any Progress Towards Goals?

We decided to put the remaining tax refund away into our savings. I'm still waiting for my RI state refund to come in (it's been 3 weeks today) so I can pay the MA state taxes that I owe. I also paid a big chunk to a credit card (it will be paid off in 2 weeks) and I also paid off two other credit cards.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Definitely Florida. I love the weather and scenery.

Not too shabby.  $30 for dinner for my dad's birthday, $40 on groceries, and $25 on a baby shower gift.

    Any Progress Towards Goals?
Got all of our initial payments made. In total we paid off 8.5 student loans.  I can't even begin to explain the sense of relief we both feel.

Also, it's crazy, but we feel so much stress and weight off our shoulders now that our budget is stable. Now coming up with money for unexpected things (H's root canal and crown) doesn't seem like such a huge burden.  Instead were writing a check out for it and getting a discount because we're paying cash. 6 months ago we would've freaked out.

    Hmm, probably Europe.

  • How MM was your weekend? It was pretty good, but mainly because hubby and I were both sick in bed most of the weekend. Easy not to spend money when you spend most of your weekend sleeping.

Any Progress Towards Goals? Continuing to get debt amounts lower month by month and watching spending.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Honestly, not sure I would move. I like that I don't live in a hurricane or tornado zone. I get to enjoy all four season, I live on Lake Erie so I get to enjoy the water and we have a great park park system in our area to enjoy the outdoors.

  • 1) Eh, ok. We got Indian take out with a friend we invited over but she kind of goes overboard with wanting extra so it ended up being almost $60 for the 3 of us...for take out! We were going to split it but she had no cash on hand so hopefully we'll make it back up next time we see her! Other than that we really didn't spend any money besides $5 at Dunks so other than overspending on dinner one night, we did pretty well.

    2) We got both our tax refunds back last week so it went straight into savings. I also applied to a few good paying jobs but they are kind of long shots! :/

    3) San Diego, CA! If family and friends were already there, (and if the COL wasn't higher than even expensive MA) I would move in a heartbeat!

    1 - Friday night dinner was $45,
Saturday we mostly shopped for DD's bday which is in less than 2 weeks and    spent $115 which also included a gift from us and all of that was budgeted for, Target - $35, Redbox - .76 for 1 movie, $10 for lunch out.
Sunday - snow day and was spent inside the house

2 - I put $100 in our emergency fund and finally got our first payment made on our cheaper health insurance plan.  I'm going to double us up on insurance for one month until we get our insurance cards and make sure everything works on the new plan, but if it does we will have one hell of a premium payment with fabulous coverage.

    3 - Kaua'i Hawaii

  • 1. We went to Noodles and Co. with my MIL, we spend $28. For the rest of the weekend we stayed home, H had a bit of a cold.

    2. AW! We did make an earnest money deposit for $5K. So much for being debt free... We are under contract for a house! FINALLY! The best news is we are spending less than we expected for the area. The only thing is the house could use a new kitchen and I want to finish the basement, which should even out the cost. I will fix the kitchen right away, but the basement can wait.

    3. I am really excited for where we are going to be living, it's a great location. Other cities I would love to live in, DC, NYC and NOLA. I also love Minneapolis.

    How MM was your weekend?

Great! Took DS to the free swim on Saturday, the park on Friday afternoon and we went to lunch on Sunday for $30. We also had to buy a few groceries and it was $25.

    Any Progress Towards Goals?

We officially raised our automatic savings withdrawals to $1500 a month last week. We are saving for a house down payment and we will be ready to buy in August!

The Pacific NW, where I live and have always lived :)

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

    1. H had army duty this weekend so we spent more in gas than usual but I spent $79 at Walmart for 9 meals plus I made 21 pasties that I froze.
    2. We recently paid off H's truck and one of his students loans. We'll be getting extra money the next couple of months from H re-enlisting and from training so we plan on paying off two credit cards, two student loans and saving for baby.
    3. I'd love to live in Marquette, MI

  • How MM was your weekend? We had a pretty good weekend. Went out for lunch with my sister yesterday, and I think that was about $40 for the 3 of us. Other than that, we both filled up with gas, so that was $80. And I bought C 2 outfits at the BRU sale, so that was $6.50. Not a bad weekend.

Any Progress Towards Goals? Nothing financial to report, although DH has almost finished installing all the new trim pieces that needed to be installed after the wood floor went down.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Probably North Dakota to be closer to our families. Although I would hate to return to the cold weather, it really sucks there right now.

  • How MM was your weekend?

Really good! I only spent $30 on gas and $14 on parking in the city for a show. The one benefit of FI being on weekend nights is we don't go out and spend a bunch of money!

    Any Progress Towards Goals?

I cut up my credit cards which felt really good! Now I for sure won't be getting myself into more debt. We also got our taxes done, each of us is getting $1,300 back which will go to different wedding expenses and paying off credit cards. Soon we'll be able to save!

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Somewhere warm, sunny, with palms trees all year round! Possibly the Florida Keys. It's always been a dream of FI and I to own a beach bar, so that seems like a fun spot!

  • How MM was your weekend?

Could have been better, but not much we could have done differently.

    $10 Home Depot
$250 Travel documents so DH can visit Brazil and finally meet my family :)
$280 Unexpected Vet Bill for one of the cats.

    Any Progress Towards Goals?

Well, that money for the vet was going to go towards debt repayment, but not so much now.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

I love the beach and lived in Miami when I was younger so I'd love to move back to that part of the Florida. Or I would love to move to Brazil so that I'd be close to my family and the beach! (I'm taking DH there at the end of this month, so maybe I can convince him that Rio is awesome, haha)

  • 1. Pretty good! We hung out with a friend, which cost only gas and homemade cookies :). We went out Sat. night on H's fun budget, and bought a gift for my mom (also budgeted). We went slightly over on groceries as usual, but that's par for the course.

    2. We hit a milestone-$1,000 in our DP fund! This is beyond our e-fund and car funds. Still soooo far to go, but the next $1000 should be quicker once we get our refund, I get my stock transferred into my name, and we have a few good saving months.

    3. I love living in New England, but in my wildest dreams I'd live in New Zealand. I visited in college and loved it so much there.
  • 1. Pretty good! $56 at the grocery store, $39 at a liquor store. Met up with friends Saturday night, $10 for pizza.

    2. Opened up a new account to put money aside for travel/ vacation.

    3. I like living in NJ, but this winter really made me think about relocating to warmer weather. No specific state/ city, just some place where there's no snow and temperature stays above 50.

  • 1) Paid cash for everything this weekend so went really well.

    2) Paid off my credit card on Friday that was used to pay medical bills and MW's work lap top.

    3) In the United States, I would say were I am living now, Akron, Ohio since I am close to my parents and we live close enough to in-Laws that MIL is our primary care giver for our son.

If I could live anywhere, it would be Germany especially one of the smaller towns close to one of the slightly larger cities but I would have to move MW's family there also.
  • 1. Pretty good, but I did impulse buy some super cute shoes which will put me over on my fun budget this month. 2. We paid off two student loans! Small ones, but it is definitely progress. On the non-MM side, we found out that I'm pregnant, so that is going to cost some serious $$$$! Baby was planned for, it just means our debt will be paid off slightly slower. I'm so excited!! 3. Minnesota for sure, but New Zealand is awesome an I'd go there if I could take my family to move too!

    Congrats!
