Sofa sleeper ?

We have a very small bedroom that we will be using as a den/office/spare bedroom. We would like some sort of seating area that can be used for overnight family/friend guests.

Any suggestions? Sofa sleeper, futon, something else we haven't thought of? We don't have a huge budget and we have a toddler and preschooler so it needs to be kid friendly.

Re: Sofa sleeper ?

  • We have a spare room that will be used for guests and we will probably put a nice futon in it.  We think a sofa sleeper may be too "formal" for the look we are going for.

We thought about a daybed originally but, while it may be comfy for sleeping, it doesn't look too comfortable for just casual sitting with the rails or lack of cushioning on the back.  They often come with roll-out trundles though, so it's even more sleeping space if you need it.
  • That's a good idea I think. We too have a small office room that has not too much space and I have thought of getting a sofa sleeper. A small sofa would look cute and actually be functional, so I say go for it. Get one that works with your style.

  • Check out IKEA and search "sleeper sofa" they have a nice variety on different styles. Things that provide more comfort & support then just a futon does but not has heavy as a traditional sleeper sofa either.

  • Flexsteel sofa sleeper - you can choose the fabric
It is not cheap, but will last a LONG time.  Consider that you would replace a cheap piece of furniture 2 or 3 times for the cost of a Flexsteel.
It totally depends on your priorities.
You might find a good buy on Craigslist or an estate sale that would work for your.
