Fat Tuesday / Lent

I forgot it was even Fat Tuesday until someone brought a King Cake to work...which I enjoyed since tomorrow I will be giving up sweets for Lent. I've been eating dessert almost every night since I was like 6 months pregnant, so it's time to stop. Anyone doing anything fun for Fat Tuesday? Giving up anything for Lent?

  • I forgot it was Fat Tuesday too! I don't know what I'll give up... definitely something.

  • I really wanted to go to IHOP for the free pancakes, but I'm sure the one in Newark is crawling with college youths and the one in New Castle is...well, in New Castle.

I think I'm going to give up chocolate milk.  That sounds lame, but trust me...it's a big deal.
  • I have no idea what to give up. Probably some kind of junk food.

Do you have to be Catholic to participate in Lent? If not, I would like to give up a few things myself. 1. chips of any kind. 2. Something I can not mention online, but ya'll know exactly what Im talking about.
  • I've decided that I'm going to give up complaining about my job! <--I totally stole this from my SIL who I work with.

I'm catholic, but about as non practicing as a catholic could/should be. So I say yes lol.

  • DH and I don't either, and I feel bad about it. I keep thinking that I haven't gotten M baptized yet. DH wants her to make her own decision when shes older. Any advice on how to convince him??

Nope!  H was raised Episcopalian and they would give things up for Lent, too.
  • I also decided that I am giving up wine for Lent. Gasp!!! Yes, wine. I figure if I give up my two biggest vices, it might also help me drop some lbs.

Vodka is still on the table, but wine is gone. At least the gluten-free vodka, mixed with club soda and lo-cal mixer is better for me.

  • I gave up drinking twice....unfortunately both were before I was legally allowed to drink!
