Re: Show me your PANTRY!

  • Do you have a pantry? PIP! Yes-ish, but I'm not PIP.  It's the landing in the staircase to our basement. So it's lined with shelving.
What do you love about your pantry? That it's there in our late 1800's home.  That isn't normal.
What would you change about your pantry? It would be closer to the front of the kitchen instead of at the back.
What do you keep in your pantry? Canned goods, boxed goods, small kitchen appliances, serveware that's used occasionally, and all of our cleaning stuff (mop, broom, swiffer, etc).
What do you wish you could keep in there? Probably extra toiletries like paper towels and toilet paper.  I also wish we could keep the dog and cat food in a rolling rub in there, and set it up so they go in there to eat instead of it being out in the open.

Do you have a pantry? PIP! Technically, I have two. The old original one then the one we built in the remodel. It's a huge messy disaster right now.

What do you love about your pantry? The chalkboard/grocery list is the best thing I ever did. I did it in our last house and loved it. I finally just painted the pantry chalkboard in this house yesterday, actually

What would you change about your pantry? wish it was bigger, but the kitchen footprint wouldn't allow us to build a bigger one. Or just cleaner!! I'll get it organized once we finish this remodel.. it's not a priority right now.

What do you keep in your pantry? everything... food, random stuff, and right now there's a couple boxes of who-knows-what in the bottom that I haven't unpacked yet. Still.

What do you wish you could keep in there? I pretty much keep everything I need in there now. Maybe my cookbooks. It's not big enough in this house.
ETA: there's another shelf above what you can see in the pic. I was just too lazy to frame it in the pic lol

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

T-TTC since Dec 2008. PCOS/nonexistant cycles(anovulation) and endo. HSG in '10 revealed both tubes blocked. Lap surgery in Dec '10 to correct. Failed Clomid/IUI and injectable(Bravelle)/IUI cycles so far.

  • Do you have a pantry? PIP! Nothing to PIP. We don't technically have a pantry, but we set up a tall utility shelf in our laundry/utility room that's immediately off the kitchen, and we keep all our pantry items there. It ain't pretty, but it works, otherwise we'd have zero space for food storage.
What do you love about your pantry? The size of the shelves, I guess?
What would you change about your pantry?  It would be a real, built-in pantry with nice, sturdy shelves, not the slightly shaky utility shelves.
What do you keep in your pantry?  All dry/canned goods really: pasta, rice, boxed stuff like macaroni and cheese, taco kits, bags of popcorn, chips, crackers, canned soups/veggies/fruits, backup paper products (especially the big packages of paper towels we buy), onions, potatoes, a big jug of olive oil used to replenish the bottle next to the stove, cat food, and a couple of kitchen wares that don't get used often.
What do you wish you could keep in there?  I think we've got everything in there we'd want in there. I wouldn't mind having a little more space to keep all of my baking supplies in there instead of crammed into the very top shelf of one of the kitchen cabinets.

  • Thanks for the input ladies! We can in WAY under the allowance for our kitchen cabinets, so we are going to splurge on our walk-in pantry.

I am thinking of making it an extension of the kitchen, with counter top and cabinets/shelving.

It's not a large walk-in, so hopefully we can work something out!
