Colors, whites, and towels/sheets. If we're overloaded with laundry, we'll do dark and light color loads, but that doesn't happen often. ETA: I never separated my laundry before we got married. He brought that into our marriage!

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

T-TTC since Dec 2008. PCOS/nonexistant cycles(anovulation) and endo. HSG in '10 revealed both tubes blocked. Lap surgery in Dec '10 to correct. Failed Clomid/IUI and injectable(Bravelle)/IUI cycles so far.

  • I separate based on colors. I don't separate his/mine because they aren't mixed in the first place. If he had a time crunch, sure, I'd do his laundry, but we generally do our own.

  • SS.  When I do laundry (and DH isn't around), I separate by colors.  It drives DH nuts, so when he's doing laundry, it gets separated by whites, jeans, and everything else that will be washed on cold/delicate.  I hate it.

  • By colors, unless it's a small load. Then, everything on cold.
    Married 2011.
    Baby Boy 2015.
  • Usually darks/lights/whites all go in together if none of it's new and I know nothing is going to bleed. I do separate jeans into their own load (possibly with other dark pants if there isn't a full load). All that gets washed on cold. Very rarely I'll actually have enough all at once to do a load of whites and throw some bleach in just to brighten it up. Towels/blankets/sheets get their own hot water cycle.

  • Tom has all but banned me from laundry because I don't give a fuuuuuuuuck and just throw everything in, The extent of my separation is making sure hand wash only/dry clean only stuff doesn't make its way into the washer. And I usually keep linens together.

    But that's about it.

I separate colours from whites and delicates (work clothes etc) from regular (socks, t-shirts, linens) and do another separate load for sports stuff.

  • I do all of our laundry because DH would just throw it all together and it would drive me crazy. I separate whites, lights, darks, and towels/sheets. I'd love to separate it out more but we don't have that much laundry. Anything brand new gets washed alone at least once.

  • I have no patience for separating color/lights/darks/blah I only separate sheets, blankets, and dedicates. If DH has a problem with that, then he can go down stairs and do ALL the damn laundry he wants!

  • My mom always separated darks, lights, underwear and towels.

I throw it ALL in together. I imagine this might change as we have kids and have more clothes. For now I don't care. We are lucky I do laundry and have clean clothes at all.
  • I separate by "type". All our jeans go together, our dress clothes, our tshirts etc
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

  • It all goes in together in our household.  I started that back in college when walking up and down 4 flights of stairs in the dorm was just too much for a bunch of different loads.  I honestly don't notice any difference when I separate them so it's just easier to put them all together.

  • Most of the time it all goes in at once. I don't have enough lights to make a load. I do separate out DHs work pants though and wash them with towels.
