Drug Dealer(s) Neighbor?

Anyone have any experience living beside or close to a drug dealer(s)? We are 100% positive that the kid that lives next door is dealing - we just aren't sure if he's the son or the boyfriend of the daughter with the baby.At first we thought that the deals were occurring while the mother wasn't home but the last 2 weeks or so we've noticed that she is home while some of them have happened so she has to know what's going on.

I spoke with the neighbor on the other side of our house and since our first talk he thinks we may be right. He said that he never really paid attention until I mentioned it to him. He also told me that he's been noticing cars parking in front of our house in our off-street parking spots when we aren't home. The visitors are also parking in front of his house and in front of the vacant house across the street - all in the off-street parking spots in front of the houses.

I have a call into the police and am waiting for a detective to call me back to discuss everything. I'm just wondering what to expect.

Also, is the off-street parking considered private property?

Thanks!
~Bonnie

Re: Drug Dealer(s) Neighbor?

  • my parents suspected people at the end of our old street were dealing (lots of quick visits from different cars through the day) but I was so young that I really didn't know more than that at the time nor what actions they tried to take.  Nothing happened that I was aware of to change the situation either, sadly. We eventually moved to a bigger house in another part of town.

Sorry you are dealing with this.
  • I've been there and know how unsettling it is.  Last year we bought property and once we started building we noticed a lot of traffic going to the house next door.  It was more than apparent what was going on.  DH called the cops and they were already suspicious and were trying to build a case.  The detective asked us to call if we noticed an increase in traffic, because that would likely mean that a large shipment had been received.

He also asked us to note any license plate numbers if we could--which we did and passed along to the detective.  They spent about a year building the case.  A few weeks ago they did a series of undercover buys at the house, since there were several people living there and they wanted to be able to nab everyone that was selling.  Then they did a big bust and found ALOT of heroin.  They are currently awaiting trial.

  • We're pretty sure our next door neighbor is dealing, or at least using heavily (we live in townhomes). I called the police station one morning because the smell of weed wafting out her back door and in to our house was overwhelming. They drove by, but there wasn't anything they could do since she wasn't outside. There's still nothing that they can do unless they can gather evidence and frankly, they have bigger problems to deal with.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!
