I finally watched The Hunger Games (spoilers)

I am only a wee bit behind right? So, I finally sat down last night with Netflix and watched The Hunger Games. I wasn't thrilled with it. What I liked: - Cinna (Lenny Kravitz just keeps getting better and better with age). - Effie (Perfection) - Ceasar (Awesome) - I LOVED the scene with all the tributes bolting off the platforms at the beginning of the games. That was cool. - Rue (I wanted to smoosh her, she was too cute) - the Dog things at the end. Those were cool - I also loved how the control station at the capital worked. It was like NASA.

What I didn't like - Gale was useless in the movie. He just stood there for the most part. We didn't see what a big part he plays in Katniss' life. - Peeta. JH didn't sell me. - Cato. Too universal soldier/robocop-ish for what I was expecting - I just got the feeling the story didn't play out well in the movie which disappointed me. It felt a bit rushed, yet long at the same time.

Over all I give it an Eh.

One thing I loved that wasn't it the book was that control room. I wanted to have a second screen where I could watch the control room the whole time. I loved it.
This.  Totally.  I feel like it gave people who hadn't read the books a real sense of how much was controlled by the Capitol.

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • The first movie didn't capture what made me love the book but I felt like this 2nd movie pulled it off. I tolerate the 1st movie because it still gave me a visual for the book if that makes sense.

  • I really disliked the movie. :(
Maybe that should be my confession.

  • I liked the film, but it wasn't fantastic. I kind of felt the same about the book though. Catching Fire was AMAZING though, and though Finnick didn't look anything like how I'd imagined him, Sam Claflin did a really good job. I'm dreading Mockingjay Part 1 - I didn't much like the book (I felt that Susanne Harris kind of abandoned her characters in favour of making a point she'd already made 1000 times) and the film's just going to make it worse.
