Food in Cranberry/Mars

I'm going to be up in Mars for most of the weekend to teach at the Knit & Crochet festival. The hotel is near the intersection of 76 and 79. I'm debating whether to pack food or venture out in Cranberry.

For most of my meals I'll have limited time, so I'm a little concerned about travel/wait times. Places with take out or pick-up would be ideal since my schedule probably means I'll be eating alone.

I'll need to eat an early dinner Friday, a quick lunch on Saturday, and a more relaxed dinner on Saturday.

Any suggestions?

Re: Food in Cranberry/Mars

  • Depending where exactly you are and what you want, there are TONS of options. There is a Noodles and Company on 228. Panera off of 19. Lots to pick from!
  • There are a ton of options right up the street from the hotel - from chains to take out & sit down.  If you like sushi - Jimmy Wans is good  you can sit at sushi bar.  Here's a list but not complete http://www.urbanspoon.com/n/23/30104/Pittsburgh/Cranberry-Twp-restaurants

  • Are you going to be at 4 Points Sheraton?

    Really close to there is:
    • Eat n Park
    • Max & Erma's
    • Bob Evans
    • Brighton Hot Dog
    • McDonald's
    • Bravo
    • Arby's
    • Perkin's
    • Five Guys
    • Pizza Sola
If you are at the Sheraton on 228, then there is a ton more but traffic is usually awful on Saturday afternoon.
There is ton in Cranberry, but if you are short on time I don't think I would try to venture up to 228 or to the mall. In that area on Saturday is a nightmare.

  • You'll have unlimited options Amy! There is also a Chipolte right down the street by Pizza Sola and Five Guys.  And the Saga Japanese restuarant has very good sushi and food. I live in the area and honestly, 228 is no more congested on weekends than weekedays. It's just a heavily traveled road, but better moving than Freedom road (in the other direction) due to timed traffic lights and more lanes. Enjoy!
  • I'll be at the 4 Points. Thanks for the great options! Sushi and Mexican are ideal since that is tricky for family meals. I'm always happy to do that when I'm solo!

I prefer non-chains, but a chain will probably be my best option for Saturday lunch, just from a speed POV.

These are going to be your best bets - the hotel also has a pretty decent restaurant inside of it, so if you find you don't have a lot of time, that might work out the best. (Parking at the hotel could be difficult if you leave...)

There's also Max & Erma's, Bob Evans and Lone Star (for the chains), McDs, Arbys, and Burger King for the fast food, Bravo Italian, Hot Dog Shoppe - all right within a couple of blocks of each other (at that interesection of 19 and the road the Sheraton is off of).

    Have fun!
