The one thing I can't handle as a parent

Sleep talking and walking.   It freaks me out so much!  Dd had a sleep talking episode last night and I honestly thought she was awake until she started talking nonsense.  Telling me to get that thing off her bed and we have to get out of here.  The number one thing that scares me in a horror movie is a creepy little kid.  And these sleep talking "episodes" are very borderline creepy little kid.  She only sleep walked once and dh found her in the hall.  It I ever wake up to see her standing next to my bed I would probably scream.

Re: The one thing I can't handle as a parent

  • I was away with some High Schoolers last week and in the middle of the night one sat up and said in full voice (yelling!).  "You're so rude.  Stop it."  I totally thought she was fighting with another girl.  Nope.  Just talking in her sleep.  Took me over 30 min to fall back asleep....and then her sister (also sleeping) started talking about tornadoes!  #theydon'tpaymeenough
  • I sleep talk, it used to freak my husband out but he is used to it now.

My sister is horrible, so creepy. She also is a crazy sleeper, ie ends up laying at the foot of the bed when she starts out the correct way. I feel bad for her husband. But we actually all do it.

  • That would freak me out too.  I've caught DD talking in her sleep a few times.  Most of it is incomprehensible.

I will say that once when DS was a baby, shortly after DH's dad passed away, he was laying in between us sleeping and busted out with some full on belly laughs.  It was almost as if someone was tickling him, but neither DH or I was.  It went on for a few minutes and was the sweetest sound I'd ever heard.

We like to think FIL was tickling him.  And that doesn't creep me out--but sleep walking definitely would.

  • I have a history of sleep walking, and I still talk in my sleep.  I have caught EJ doing it a few times too.  It doesn't creep me out. What does are very wiggly teeth. She lost her first top tooth on Saturday night and it makes me sick to my stomach just thinking of how it was moving around in her mouth. I don't let her know how squeamish I am over it.
  • Amanda, the teeth is so gross! My nephew was up last week and was wiggling his tooth for me.  :-&

  • You girls are cracking me up!  For the record...creepy kids and wiggly teeth are both at the top of my *shudder* list.  :)
