Manic Monday!

Good morning!  How was everyone's weekend?  I'm moving a little slow this morning.. thank you daylight savings time.

But - the little brother & I are leaving for Disney World Thursday!  So that is what is getting me through this 3 day work week!

I basically spent the weekend cleaning, grocery shopping and doing laundry.  I want to make sure things are put together for DH while I'm gone.  I'm hoping that if I leave with a clean house, I'll return to a clean one?  We shall see.  :)

Re: Manic Monday!

  • I am also moving slow this morning thank you daylight savings time.  It's crazy what just ONE hour can do to you!  I worked Friday night and basically all day Saturday.  Oh well, we can definitely use the money to increase our savings.  Yesterday was pretty nice.  I woke up around 9:30ish, and cleaned up some while DH slept.  For lunch, we went to a restaurant we had never tried before, and it was really good!  We were definitely not disappointed, and go back eventually...whenever we think about it!  I washed and waxed my bike and got it all ready for riding season.  DH needs to change the oil in it though.  I even took it for a ride down the street and back.

I have my follow-up appointment with my RE tomorrow to go over the results from my HSG and Day 21 bloodwork.  I'm feeling a little discourage this morning though.  I had read so many stories about people getting their BFP after having an HSG, and I was really hopeful.  According to FF, we had good timing (-1 and +1).  But if I'm not ovulating (even though I have a temp spike), then that would explain some!  But I'm spotting yesterday and today, so I'm just waiting for it to come :(

Ky - have fun in Disney!!  I also read your blog, and I'm so sorry! :(  I definitely understand what you're saying.  DH has already said he doesn't want to spend $10-12k.  I totally get that knife in your heart feeling you talked about.  Did you ask about the mini-ivf?  Just curious - I know my RE does a mini-IVF and it costs about $7-8k.

  • I empathize with you both. It wasn't our cycle this go around.

The weekend wasn't to bad. IBS and Aunt Flo killing me slowly with pain. And I worked both days.

Today was the worst. I refuse to go back into our office at work. The putrid stench was so overwhelming (even with the door open) I almost vomited everytime I was in there. They are now going to try and find (and hopefully fix) what's causing the toxic smell. I can't work under these conditions any more. Everyone agreed it was especially bad today and even the nurses were gagging when they went in the room. The nurses at the hospital are so nice. They took care of me and made me feel better. I'm glad I get to work with them.
  • My weekend was not long enough. Friday, H and I visited some friends who had triplets six months ago. It was seriously eye-opening to watch their process of feeding the girls and keeping them all content. In the middle of everything, their pug had to be taken to the doggie ER so H and I and the dad all entertained the girls and got them ready for bed. Then I went home and spent three hours wrapping cookies for a baby shower the next day while H went to a bachelor party (and we're not even invited to the wedding -- guys are so weird).
Then Saturday I had to help with the baby shower and again, I was so overwhelmed. there were 35 guests or so and she got so.much.stuff. I became very jealous. What was awesome was that one of the other hosts of the shower told me she was pregnant with her second. They had tried for a year and a half and she was finally 13 weeks along.
Last night H and I went to a benefit for a friend who is donating her kidney to her cousin. It was fun, but we definitely drank too much and I feel as though I have the mentality of a stapler today. I'm already ready for a relaxing next weekend.

@athlete010688 - I did ask him about the mini-IVF, and he doesn't really recommend it. He said it's really not that much cheaper, and the chances are much lower.  He told me to think of it this way... He likes to estimate that half the eggs they retrieve will be mature/healthy, half of those will be fertilized, half of those will make it to transfer/freeze.  So if you get 8 eggs, you may only have 1-2 by the end. (it obviously can vary) Doing mini IVF really reduces the amount of eggs retrieved (usually under 4).  He said he doesn't think it's worth it.

But, just his opinion.  DH & I talked again last night.  I think we are going to try at least 3 months on our own with acupuncture & then go back and do a couple more IUIs.  Now he has be second guessing IVF...
