Boring subject, I know! BUT, DH and I are needing a new vacuum. The one we currently have, DH has had for at least 5 years (that's since we've been together, so I'm not sure how long he's actually had it). It's HEAVY. I hate carrying the thing up and down the stairs. What got us thinking, was that we were watching one of those Infomercials on the Shark Rocket Professional yesterday, and it looked nice. What type of vacuum do you have and do you like it? Why or why not?
Here's our house/needs:
- We have stairs, so I don't want something super heavy.
- We have 2 dogs and 1 cat. One of the dogs has short, white hair that sheds EVERYWHERE. I could seriously vacuum 2 or 3 times a day, and his hair would still be everywhere! The cat also sheds...so when she lays on the couch or chairs, her hair gets all over the furniture.
- The upstairs is all carpet (except for bathrooms, which is laminate). The downstairs is a mix of carpet, laminate, and tile. The kitchen and entry way are a dark laminate wood (which shows EVERYTHING), and the laundry room and downstairs bath are tile.

Re: Let's talk Vacuum's...
However, I have this:

I like it. We have a dog, and stairs, and both hardwood and carpet. The attachments are easy, and the thing is really light. I've had it almost a year and haven't had to change the filter yet, but I could, probably. It doesn't lose suction, either.

At the moment we have two cats and the cheapest vacuum you can buy at walmart (in store). Cost about $50. The first one lasted over 2 years. We just bought the same one and expect it to last just as long.
We waited to buy ours until we have a 30% off Kohl's coupon and they were doing Kohl's cash, so if you had a Kohl's card, I would recommend doing that. Saved us a couple hundred on it.
