Fantasy Fans/Stormlight Archive (ns)

I have to rave about The Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson. The second in the planned ten book series was just released and it was amazing. I liked the first, The Way of Kings, and Words of Radiance just blew it away. It was so easy to fall into the world (especially with the second) and follow the plot as it courses along with twists, turns, and witty dialog. The added artwork is beautiful and makes it such a unique read.

  • I don't usually read Fantasy and I really have no idea why. I think I'd really love it.  I love UF and I loved the first in the Wheel of Time and really enjoyed The Kingkiller Chronicles.  I'll add this to my TBR!

BTW, I'm starting The Great Hunt today!

  • I have only read his Mistborn series, and I feel like I really can't even call myself a fantasy lover until I read more Brandon Sanderson.  I might wait for a few more books to come out in this series, though.  Glad to hear it's good!

You should add Elantris and then Warbreaker to your TBR list to tide you over during the wait. Both are stand alone and are set in different but interesting worlds to dive into. You can even get Warbreaker free.

I'm looking forward to your review!

Speaking of KKC, I did find an interesting link:

I've got a few things that will be happening before doors of stone:

    1. A novella (about 22,000 words) that centers around Bast. It's coming out in the Rouges anthology later this year.

    2. I'm also working on another novella centering around Auri. I meant for it to be a short story, but it became a lot more than that, and right now it's creeping up on 25,000 words.

    3. A short novel (short for me) set in Modeg. It tells the origin stories of one of the other legendary figures in my world: Laniel young-again. (That's probably going to be about 100-120 thousand words or so.)

This.  I can't start another series and then wait years for the next book.  I just can't.

Sounds good, thanks for the rec. I read Steelheart recently and was underwhelmed, but from what others have said I think I may like his longer works more.
